In addition, Zoetis will never ask candidates to make any type of personal financial investment related to gaining employment with Zoetis.POSITION SUMMARY Provide leadership and manage budgets for the Diagnostics R&D software development team of approximately 15 staff, based in Farum (Denmark), and Union City (California), as a part of Zoetis VMRD. The focus of the diagnostics R&D software development team is as follows:(1) Develop software and firmware for Diagnostic instruments; (2) Test software and firmware for Diagnostic instruments;(3) Integrate software and firmware for Diagnostic instruments with instrument hardware(4) Software Verification and Software Validation This includes development and validation of the following types of software: (1) Algorithms(2) Embedded software and firmware(3) User Interface software(4) Application Software This position will report directly to the Vice President of Global Diagnostics R&D. The role interacts extensively with counterparts in other VMRD (Veterinary Medicine Research and Development) groups, and Zoetis PMI (Product Management and Innovation), GMS (Global Manufacturing and Supply), and ITS (Information Technology Services), to ensure alignment of the diagnostic R&D software development strategy with internal and external requirements. The role further interacts with and aligns with global Commercial Operations to ensure that the delivered products will meet customer needs and drive value for Zoetis. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
* Provide direction to Diagnostics R&D Software Development team, including establishing key goals for operational efficiency and excellence, and continuous improvement targets.
* Lead development and launch of software of impeccable quality for diagnostic instruments and assays. * Work with peers to ensure that common practices and processes are used to support efficient portfolio progression. * Create a culture that promotes flexible work processes and ensures the effective transfer of R&D products into manufacturing, and subsequent launch. * Collaborate with Zoetis commercial partners to provide insights into R&D”s systems and processes. Support Zoetis commercial with technical consultation. * Supervise and participate in technical due diligence activities for licensing / acquisition of new diagnostic instruments and technologies, biodevices and sensor technologies. * Seek opportunities to build new product offerings across the portfolio, consistent with the Zoetis strategy to drive a continuum of care (predict, prevent, detect, and treat) in addressing unmet customer needs. * Remain current with new and cross industry technologies and practices, as well as evolving external requirements that impact product design, execution, analysis and reporting. * Coach and mentor direct reports and other staff as appropriate to facilitate colleague development and succession planning. * Lead function efforts to practice objective colleague performance assessment and effective performance management. QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor”s degree in Computer Science or related field
* Experience in Agile software development * Experience in managing efficient configuration management, automated testing, and software verification and validation * Experience working in a matrix environment, where alignment of goals and flexibility in allocating resources across functions is essential to organizational success * Excellent oral and written communications skills * Strong interpersonal skills, including negotiating and problem solving * Skilled at situational leadership * Proficient in English required, Danish proficiency is a plus
