We currently have a position available at our Simplot Headquarters – Boise, ID.
Idaho SUMMARY The Engineering Director will provide guidance, direction and resources in various design and construction projects both domestically and internationally to satisfy the plant production and maintenance departments' needs while maintaining a satisfactory cost-benefit ratio, and complying with safety, environmental and quality standards. The position will also be a companywide resource by working with other corporate and facility staff to address technical and compliance issues as they occur. RESPONSIBILITIES * Stays abreast of changing regulatory environment and oversees department compliance by interfacing with environmental personnel and outside consultants, attending meetings and seminars, and studying/applying appropriate governmental regulations.* Provides expertise on engineering/construction projects by specifying process equipment/instrumentation and materials by comparing what other industries are using, studying product information, and through past experience with vendors.* Supervises both internal and external project managers and/or engineers to facilitate design and construction of capital and non-capital projects by planning, directing and delegating work assignments, making purchasing decisions, vendor/contractor selections while managing cost, schedule and performance appropriately.* Direct, lead and/or support the largest and most complex domestic and international projects from concept to completion and commissioning for the Simplot Food Group.* Interfaces with other departments to ensure projects are correctly prioritized and meet expectations by adhering to a formalized project management process to ensure that projects are passed from one department to the next in an orderly fashion and that pertinent input is obtained from each group.* Evaluates capital expenditure proposals for the plant.
Provides feedback on capital investment results to assure maximum return on capital investments.*Responsible for identifying and developing the application for new technologies.
REQUIREMENTS * Bachelors of Science Degree from 4 year college or university* Fifteen plus years related experience and/or training. * Must have at least 15 years of experience working in a FMCG environment, 5+ years of experience in plant environment, 5+ years of experience managing other professionals and projects. * Extensive capital projects and budget development experience is expected.* Demonstrated knowledge relating to relevant project management and design activities. * Experience in Heavy industry, Knowledgeable of Plant processes / issues or Unit Operations is a plus. * Extensive people/project management experience will be required at this level. * Demonstrated knowledge of capital budget development experience is required. * Significant experience in developing department budgets is preferred. * Demonstrated competencies around urgency, collaboration, accountability and ability to deliver results are expected * Previous experience managing technical groups as a change leader would be preferred.
* Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. * Must have good management and supervisory skills. * Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities at the same time. * Demonstration of project management skills such as planning out work, developing budgets, tracking expenditures, assuring following up assignments and keeping appropriate documentation of activities. * Must be able to accurately define problems, collect data, interpret analytical results, draw valid conclusions, and make recommendations to senior management.Disclaimer – These statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
