Director, Global Transfer Pricing
Position Objective:This position will direct all tax matters relating to intercompany transactions not limited to strategy, planning, structuring and documentation. The Director, Global Transfer Pricing is a key member of the global tax team, interfacing with regional Directors of Tax, business partners, Treasury and Control. This position will lead one direct report and also oversee the global outsourced transfer pricing documentation engagement.The position entails the following: • Overseeing preparation and defense of Transfer Pricing Master File for all corporate transactions with related parties.• Setting global transfer pricing strategy for all business units, headquarters and Treasury • Developing a process for transfer pricing compliance for internal Treasury functions• Developing, reviewing, implementing, documenting, maintaining and defending future transfer pricing planning.• Coordination of HQ cost allocations, supported by studies from external advisors. Working with local tax teams on preserving deductibility of HQ allocations.• Developing strategy for country by country reporting for implementation by the Tax Operations team.• Provide assistance with transfer pricing compliance matters in Argentina and Brazil• Willingness to play a role in the process whereby the tax department works to de-link transfer pricing from management reporting, and the ability to persevere on tax planning initiatives as these principles emerge• Developing a process to evaluate whether any state and local tax risks exist with respect to transfer pricing and manage any such risks Major Opportunities and Decisions:The successful person in this role will be action oriented with strong critical thinking and project management skills. The Director of Global Transfer Pricing will be able to work and lead in a fast paced, highly decentralized environment, requiring ongoing collaboration. The role will require both a willingness to work “in the details” and the ability to assess the larger perspective. The candidate should also possess natural curiosity and a passion for understanding complex fact patterns and a willingness and creativity to distill this into a manageable format. The role requires that the person possess self-confidence to fuel their pursuit of an idea or issue without being deterred, and to trust their own judgment as to whether a matter has been sufficiently untangled and/or resolved, or whether a need remains to dig deeper. This person must also work well with all of Bunge’s tax teams, both within the corporate group and in the OpCos, and with Bunge’s external advisors.Principal Accountabilities:Assess the transfer pricing requirements, evaluate solutions and provide guidance on appropriate structures, documentation and defense. Oversee external advisor supporting global transfer pricing documentation.Support Sr. Director of Global Tax Planning and Sr. Director of Tax Operations regarding risks, quantification of tax exposure and other compliance matters, such as country by country reporting.Competencies/Skills:• Operative understanding of transfer pricing strategies, planning, documentation and enforcement• Experience with Advanced Pricing Agreements• Ability to provide guidance to a cross functional team implementing complex tax planning strategies• Strong knowledge of international tax planning structures including trading and financial instruments• Ability to resolve complex technical issues, and recognize the need for and seeks out internal or external subject matter expertise• Ability to lead an internal team and oversee external resources to meet the global transfer pricing needs of the company• Ability to maintain effectiveness in an environment with uncertainties• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and activities and pivot quickly when necessaryEducation:• Undergraduate or advanced degree in accounting or economics. Experience:At least 15 years experience including significant experience with the corporate transfer pricing programs.
