Director Market & Competitive Intelligence – Enterprise Strategy
SUMMARY:Responsible for embedding a synthesized view of macro-economic, consumer, customer/channel, technological, (geo)political/legislative/regulatory, environmental/sustainability, and competitor trends as a central piece of the multi-year strategic planning process. Work collaboratively with leaders in Insights, R &D, Public Affairs, Sustainable Production, & Finance to screen, identify, and prioritize key trends to enrich the strategic planning process. Create short and long-term action plans for individual BUs based on these key trends and implement these plans within each organization. Lead analysis of the global competitive environment, inclusive of all “protein centric” categories. Provide routine and holistic analysis of competitive strategies to BU leaders, and ensure understanding of strategic intent, business model, capabilities, management team dynamics and behavior, competitive profit pools by segment and geography, strengths andweaknesses; use such insights to inform our own strategy. Formalize field intelligence gained from procurement/commodity sourcing, sales, distributor and other networks into an official competitive intelligence network, reporting regularlythrough formal routines on in-market learnings as well as action plans to provide more real-time support to BUs while monitoring competitive execution in market. Build organizational muscle in assessing competitive intent/threats and moves– e.g., war gaming — presenting findings to BUs and ways to deploy these capabilities in support of BU and Corporate decision makingREQUIREMENTS:Education: Bachelor's degree required; MBA highly preferredExperience: 5-10 years as strategy or insights/analytics practitioner within a high-performing multi-national consumer sector organization and/or within a blue chip investment consulting firm, having achieved the status of senior engagement manager. Significant knowledge of and direct experience in the food sector — branded retail, foodservice, and commodity, in strategy or other roles, preferred. Demonstrated set of experiences in financial modeling, research, and/or analytics. Specific experience withwar gaming strongly desired. Global experience and mindset – time living and working overseas a plus.Computer Skills: MS OfficeCommunication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including sharing ideas and information across diverse audiences and making presentations in order to drive business decisions.
