Director NA Ruminant Dairy Business – Diamond V, remote opportunity
Position Purpose & SummaryResponsible for ensuring an effective, functioning sales effort for all markets served, as well as ensure plans, programs and personnel are in place to build and maintain vital customer relationships and ensure market leadership on a sustained basis. The North American Ruminant Dairy Director is considered a key player in and manager of Diamond V’s efforts to grow its already strong business in the United States and Canada.Principal Accountabilities60% Business Development:Works with NA Specie Director, SMP, Marketing, Technical Service and staff to develop and implement effective business development and support programs tailored to specific customer and marketplace needs.Works with and provides input to Diamond V technical service, research, quality control, manufacturing and others as necessary to ensure a market leading standard of product support, information and sales service is provided to customers throughout North America. Works with the NA Specie Director and DSM to formulate and implement sales and marketing policy including distribution, pricing, packaging, and co-op promotion. Has overall responsibility for annual business plan development and revenue projections for North American Ruminant Dairy customer base. 25% Lead North American Ruminant Dairy sales forceWorks with the NA Specie Director and Human Resources Director to develop and implement effective sales representative compensation plans.Directs and manages the North American Ruminant Dairy sales force; is “first person responsible” on employment decisions. 10% Other duties as required to fulfill the mission of a vibrant, growing, profitable business and a healthy, productive, positive environment for all to work in. 5% Provides input to the Diamond V product development effort.Equal Opportunity Employer, including Disability/Vet.Skills:Required QualificationsBachelor's degree. 5+ years direct sales experience in dairy and/or livestock plus a minimum of 3 years sales management experience. Strong verbal communication and sales presentation skills. Strong written communications skills as they would relate to business letters and memos, reports, plans, speech writing, PR releases, etc. Ability to analyze a wide range of intellectual and practical problems, propose reasonable solutions, make logical decisions, carry out decisions made and follow up when appropriate. Ability to work effectively with the basic technical aspects of food animal nutrition and related bioscience and husbandry. Reasonable computer literacy as it applies to communications and sales services. Ability to work with and appropriately apply the disciplines of arithmetic and algebra. Accounting principles and fundamental statistics in developing and maintaining sales data basis of all kinds. Reasonable computer literacy as it applies to sales force communications and automation. Must have valid drivers’ license and passport and be insurable.Traveling extensively both by automobile and by air, with multiple nights out per week is part of this job.Considerable physical stamina and mental toughness are required.Must be able to use computer and other devices appropriate to commerce.Typical office work which involves sitting most of the time, walking and standing are frequently required. Exerts up to 50 pounds force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.At times, multiple calls and presentations in one day as well as long hours at trade shows with extensive standing and walking. Service nature of the job and the pressure of multiple deadlines requires mental stamina. Duties regularly require close vision, talking, hearing, reading and writing. Fine finger movement is required for typing, filing, etc.Preferred QualificationsMarketing and/or agriculture are the preferred fields.Apply for this job.
