BACKGROUND:The OCP Group is a major global plant nutrition company headquartered in Morocco, with exclusive rights to develop Morocco s world-leading reserves of phosphate ore. The company is integrated across the entire phosphate value chain, extracting, marketing and selling phosphate and its derivatives, phosphoric acid and fertilizers to customers on five continents. OCP Research was originally formed as an internal consulting firm to provide the OCP Group with a variety of services related to market analysis, policy research, partnership & relationship development, and project management. This year, OCP Research is expanding its role to include the marketing and distribution of OCP products within North America. Consistent with this expanded role, OCP Research LLC has recently been renamed OCP North America, Inc. GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: OCP North America is looking for a Director of Data Science and Analytics tasked with building OCP NA s Advanced Analytics team. This position reports to OCP NA s VP of Strategy, Innovation and Analytics. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibilities include: Building a small but highly proficient Advanced Analytics team to serve the needs of OCP North America and, internationally, to support the OCP Group s broader analytics team and digital office;Directing the day to day operations of the Advanced Analytics team at OCP NA, managing the Data Science and Analytics budget, mentoring junior colleagues, and managing team resource commitments;Evolving the current data science and analytics vision of OCP NA to realize new ways of servicing internal OCP clients and external clients in the agricultural space;Working with business stakeholders to understand how to best leverage, enhance, and potentially monetize OCP NA and OCP Group corporate data;Providing thought leadership by researching best practices, conducting experiments, and collaborating with industry leaders, and promoting corporate and technical innovation in data science in OCP NA and within the OCP Group. In this position, the Director of Data Science and Analytics will lead a team tasked with the following: Identifying business problems, discover new data opportunities, provide data driven solutions, and designs end-to-end analytics use casesImplementing machine learning, statistical or mechanistic models and other computational approaches to extract actionable insights and identify trends from datasets in complex agronomic and agribusiness systems.Deploying data pipelines that are scalable, repeatable, and secure, and can serve multiple users within OCP North America and the OCP GroupEnabling big data and batch/real-time analytical solutions that leverage emerging technologiesDevelops standards and processes for integration projects and initiatives QUALIFICATIONS: MS/PhD in computer science, statistics, or operations research or related technical discipline7+ years experience in a statistical and/or data science roleDeep knowledge of machine learning, statistics, or optimization or related fieldExperience with R, Python, Matlab is required, programming in C, C++, Java Experience working with large data sets, simulation/ optimization and distributed computing tools (Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Gurobi, Arena, etc.)Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong desire to work in cross functional teams Attitude to thrive in a fun, fast-paced start-up like environment Ability to build and drive a high performing team, and to lead matrixed groupsExcellent project management skillsExceptional analytical skills with ability to review and analyze significant amounts of information.
