Director of Operations
Poultry Our client, who is a large progressive egg producer, is looking for a Director of Operations to lead the production team in ensuring healthy birds, producing quality eggs, profitably. We are looking for an experienced manager that is responsible for the supervision of the production operation, pullet operation, and processing experience is a plus. A strong understanding of bird health, nutrition and care in a large modern operation along with knowledge of animal and employee safety is a must for this position. This person should have strong leadership skills and be detailed oriented to ensure optimal production. A must is having bird experience! Responsibilities: ? Lead and develop the production staff ensuring a high level of safety and quality throughout. ? Provide support and leadership at the farm in line with sound management practices and SOPs with the objective to protect birds and, prevent accidents, injuries, and equipment and facility damage. ? Oversee the daily activities of the production team to ensure animal husbandry, care and welfare responsibilities are performed efficiently and effectively ? Monitor and regulate live bird production operations, ensuring that the highest quality product is produced at the lowest possible cost, and in the safest manner possible. ? Interact with Quality Control and the USDA to support food safety requirements, quality and yield consistency. ? Oversee and maintain the HACCP plan, SQF certification, FDA
USDA compliance for facility. ? Pursue opportunities to improve self, employees, and processes ? Enforce company policies and rules in a fair and consistent manner. ? Regularly communicate with complex manager with regard to employee situations and problems. ? Other duties outlined in the full job description
Qualifications ? 5 years experience in managing a production bird operation (prefer Layer experience) ? Supervisory people management experience ? High level of detail, multi-tasking, analytical, and problem solving skills with intuition to create solutions ? Understanding of safety and quality regulations not limited to HACCP plan, FDA, USDA compliance and SQF Certification ? Excellent communication skills, written and oral ? Bachelor”s degree or equivalent ? Knowledge and use of standard Microsoft Office and other standard industry programs
