Director of Planning and Purchasing
DescriptionThe Director is responsible for working cross functionally to ensure that agreed service levels are achieved for all the company’s products at the lowest cost possible by leading the S&OP process. The Director works with the sales team to forecast demand and translates this into short- and long-term needs for the operations team to secure raw goods and produce as efficiently as possible while keeping inventory levels as low as possible and maintaining a stable schedule and workforce. The Director oversees the purchasing team, ensuring good procurement practices are in place to achieve improved costs and surety of supply. Planning:Lead planning across the organization to increase stability in production while reducing inventory and filling orders at an acceptable rateLead a monthly S&OP process cross functionallyDirectly own and maintain the long term supply planManage 2 to 3 direct reports:Production plannerGlobal supply chain managerWork closely with the sales and finance organization to build increased sales planning capability to better predict demandManage and drive a monthly IBP process for the supply teamWork cross functionally in the supply team to optimize the supply chain both domestically and internationallyHelp build planning and organizational capability in the supply group as well as across the organization. Develop the planning team and others more broadly across the company Purchasing:Evaluate and improve COR’s overall approach to procurement:Develop a procurement strategy for major categories to deliver targeted benefits and financial savingsEvaluate and improve the processes and systems for effective procurementPartner with the sourcing group to evaluate and improve the global oil supply chainBuild and leverage a strong supplier network:Develop strategies for each major purchasing category that support the business needs. Develop a clear and consistent RFP process for all supplier negotiations and contractsDrive reduction in total supply costs and in waste:Develop and agree on annual departmental cost savings targets for the annual budget processDevelop and agree on the annual procurement plan with directors and departmental headsManage 1 direct report – Purchasing Manager QualificationsBachelors degree in Business or a related field, MBA highly preferred10+ years of experience in operations and supply planningAbility to work varying hours, some weekends, and varying schedulesValid California Driver’s License Must possess mobility to work in a food manufacturing facility vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups and over the telephone. This is a primary food manufacturing facility classification, commonly standing in work areas. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, typewriter keyboard, or calculator. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information.
