Director of Propane Asset Development, Terminal Operations & Safety
CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Energy Division for a Director of Propane Asset Development, Terminal Operations & Safety Processes. A successful candidate will drive expansion, strategic development, operations and safety of propane/natural gas liquids distribution assets that create value and long-term strategic advantage for the propane business unit.
You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, strong business acumen and ability to collaborate and make tough decisions. You will:Facilitate long range strategic planning for the Propane and Equipment businesses. Lead the strategic development of and present capital projects to executive leadership.Develop the capital project stage gate process in order to drive the profitable expansion of propane/natural gas liquids distribution assets to include all build, acquisition, divestiture and joint venture transactional support.Establish initiatives and strategies in the wholesale propane distribution terminals operations to ensure safe, efficient and profitable operations.Ensure CHS Propane is recognized as an industrial and safety leader through safety communications, the safety and training reimbursement program, the Safety Resource Alliance and related programs.Manage the wholesale propane business agreement terms and conditions to ensure customer compliance with insurance requirements. Develop and disseminate safety, regulatory and/or compliance related information to internal and external customers to create awareness and understanding.Investigate reported propane incidents and coordinate the litigation process with in-house counsel, outside counsel and Corporate Risk Management on settlement activity.Manage staff that develops and oversees new plant construction and start-up. Coordinate with the Business Unit and terminal operators to transition the terminals into operations.Guide strategies around safety of operations, throughput fee management, equipment maintenance, 3rd party communications, and operational procedures in moving cars into and out of the terminals. Represent CHS Propane on any co-owned assets as its board of director liaison.Negotiate asset purchase agreements, real estate purchase, options and leases, construction contracts, terminal service agreements, joint venture agreements and management for 3rd party maintenance.Provide leadership in the areas of market assessment, project identification, acquisition opportunities, financial analysis and all other aspects of the successful completion of projects and/or acquisitions.Ensure Country Operations Propane Safety Program?s standard operating procedures are current and consistent. Foster and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.Represent CHS Inc on the Propane Education and Research Council working group.Foster and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.Basic Qualifications: (required)Bachelor?s degree in Engineering, Economics, Law, Business or Marketing15 plus years of experience in engineering, corporate development, supply and distribution of natural gas liquids, propane or related fields to include:Understanding of the natural gas liquids industry, specifically North American distribution and logisticsLeading and facilitating successful completion of acquisitionsKnowledge of capital project management and asset operationsKnowledge of insurance, litigation and negotiation processesUnderstanding of safety and regulatory requirements including EPA, NFPA, DOT and OSHAManagement of Profit and Loss statements (P&L)5 years of supervisory experiencePreferred qualifications: (desired)MBAExperience working cross-functionally across multiple business areasStage gate process for project development
