Director, Process Development ? Decatur, IL This is an exempt level position. Position Summary:
Reports to the Decatur BioProducts Facility manager and is located within the operating facilityWill have a prominent leadership role in production and operations areas (the production facilities include manufacturing operations for several products serving the food, Animal Nutrition, and industrial chemical markets)Leads implementation of technology improvement projects, encompassing process optimization, continuous improvement, scaling-up processes for new products, etc.
Will work in close collaboration with plant management, R&D, engineering and commercial groups Supervise a team of technical personnel with a diverse skill set Lead cross-functional teams and get results while balancing the priorities and needs of multiple projects. Job Requirements:
Degree in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering is strongly preferred; Other engineering degrees and/or a relevant degree in Chemistry and/or Microbiology may be considered with appropriate industrial experienceA deep and fundamental understanding of biochemical engineering principles (e.g., sterile operations, aeration and mass transfer, bioprocess control), in particular, at large scale, is essentialMinimum 10 years? experience in an operating fermentation or chemical processing plant with a strong track record of delivering results is requiredExperience in optimizing and scaling up industrial biological and chemical processes is expectedBesides a strong background in fermentation and/or biochemical processing, additional experience with downstream purification processes; centrifugation, distillation, drying, membrane separations, etc. is a plusMentoring direct reports as well as colleagues is an essential component of the responsibilitiesKnowledge of statistics, data analysis, ?design of experiments? is highly desiredPromotes the ADM Way and Core Values Ability to manage a diverse team Able to communicate with all levels of the organization Must have a demonstrated history of safe work behavior and a sincere desire to follow and improve upon safety policies and procedures
