Director Quality Systems
POSTION SUMMARY: To manage Company s Quality System to ensure that conformance to specified requirements are in place and functioning for the processes of manufacturing branded and private label products. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Directs and coordinates Quality Systems, data acquisition, data analysis and process control of all processing plants.Reviews and develops policies, procedures and work instructions to determine staffing requirements, work priorities and duty assignments.Review plans and confers with Product Development to develop new products and processes or the quality of existing products.Initiates and coordinates laboratory supply and maintenance of laboratory equipment.Analyzes production, quality control, food safety and other operational reports to detect production opportunities and issues.Evaluates samples of raw materials and finished product during processing to ensure finished product conforms to prescribed quality standards.Prepares and maintains production and quality status reports for staff meetings.Trains and evaluates staff according to their prescribed performance plans.Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation.Devises sampling procedures, designs and develops forms, instructions for recording, evaluating and reporting quality data.Establishes quality programs to evaluate process capability, precision and accuracy of production & testing equipment, as well as measurement and analytical equipment.Assure that all Pictsweet facilities maintain effective quality programs that adhere to GFSI BRC criteria.When required by plant or facility management, make decisions on corrective actions, non-conforming products, process deviations, release of finished product, and the control of sensitive documents.Provide sales management and the company s customers with technical assistance and information with regard to the products the Company produces.Maintain good relations with USDA, FDA, EPA, and other governmental agencies to insure that the Company is kept abreast of and in compliance with laws and regulations that affect the operation of our business.Keep abreast of global issues that may potentially affect legality of the Company s products. Legal issues will be assessed with the aid of the Corporate General Counsel. This will be accomplished through trade organizations such as the American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI) and technical journals appropriate company policies and procedures. Routinely analyze and report on consumer/customer complaints, highlighting both favorable and unfavorable trends. Recommend appropriate corrective action when required by customer. Assist in the implementation of the corrective action with the appropriate plant or facility management personnel.Develop and assist in the implementation of statistical based process control procedures, which yield product quality consistent with specifications at all Pictsweet facilities.Oversee the Supplier Approval Program ensuring that are all requirements are met and that the quality of purchased or co-packed raw materials and products matches their purchase agreement. QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE: Must have in depth, up to date knowledge of Third Party GFSI audit and understanding of food processing, microbiology, sanitation, HACCP, GMP, and GFSI Standards in general. The director should have technical knowledge of COP and CIP, cleaning and sanitizing chemicals, sanitary design of food processing equipment, & internal auditing of food manufacturing facilities. This is typically gained with 10 years food production, management, & auditing experience. EDUCATION: Must have a Bachelor s degree in Food Science or related field, an advanced degree preferred. Must possess an understanding of management/leadership fundamentals and be certified in HACCP & Advanced HACCP, Internal Auditing, Third Party GFSI audit Standards, Food Security & Defense. Certifications in Project Management, Quality Auditing, and Manager of Organizational Excellence are a plus.Apply for this job.
