Director, Strategic Procurement Center of Excellence (COE), Calgary, AB, Saskatoon, SK, Loveland, CO, or other Nutrien siteThe Director, Strategic Procurement COE is responsible for leading a transformational center of excellence that underpins world-class procurement at Nutrien. This includes leading and empowering a strong and focused team within the COE, modifying organizational and governance design as necessary, enabling world-class processes, systems and continuous improvement, facilitating excellent stakeholder engagement and supplier relationship management, and developing all necessary foundations that allows Procurement to, as applicable to the function, grow our world from the ground up.Our Procurement organization is organized to (i) exact benefits from leveraging enterprise-wide spend and efficiencies associated with central and shared governance, planning, processes, systems, resources, communications and other infrastructure; and, (ii) execute on a geographically beneficial basis to support the unique requirements of each of our business unit operating sites.The COE provides both strategic and tactical best practices and support services to the Procurement function broadly including central Category Management strategic procurement – Goods, Services and Capital teams – and Business Unit (BU) procurement operations (Potash, Nitrogen, Phosphate, Retail and Corporate) and, where applicable, support to other functions and business partners across the company (eg. IT, HR, Finance, Legal, SHE). The COE provides the critical foundations for excellent customer-centric Procurement service delivery for Nutrien’s Bus. The COE is currently organized into four practice areas: a. Governance (policies, procedures, tools, templates, data (spend/supplier/material master data), performance and compliance reporting, talent management/training; b. Supplier and Stakeholder Relationship Management (supplier lifecycle performance, qualification, risk management, safety, communications, change management, diversity and inclusion, digital enablement) c. Procurement Operations (SAP-Ariba S2P, ERP’s design, development and enhancements) and d. Legal/Contracts. In coordination with our IT business partners, the COE is responsible for the best design, development and utilization of SAP-Ariba modules for world-class procurement, as well as several other applicable data, data management, and reporting tools for the same.Key DeliverablesStrategy and Planning:Design, develop and execute strategies that enable the world-class Procurement COE functionDesign develop and execute Procurement digital and data strategies and roadmaps Develop a comprehensive set of Procurement operational reports to optimize center and site business decision making regarding spend management, savings delivery, inventory management, supplier management, risk management, etc. Develop a comprehensive set of processes to provide back-office support to category management and site procurement teamsDevelop and manage a training program that will support talent development for Procurement personnelPerform additional task as assigned and defined by the VP, ProcurementTechnical Performance:Reflecting overall responsibility for Procurement COE practice areas:Establish, implement and manage best practice procurement governance and governance management practicesManage long-term data, process, digital and talent transformations within ProcurementManage source-to-pay (S2P) workflow automation, inventory optimization, contract management and supplier relationship management tools via SAP-AribaManage material master data, supplier master data, and spend data continuous improvement initiativesOptimize world-class procurement business processes for all aspects of best business decision making where suppliers are involved (including management of supply eg. inventory/warehouse optimization), including insource/outsource decisionsManage the development and execution of a consistent global procurement performance model that accurately defines and measures procurement effectiveness, savings, synergies, and other performance and compliance resultsBusiness/Operational Impact and DecisionsDevelop and manage the COE to set foundational capabilities that enables the entire Procurement organization to identify, capture and sustain value from Nutrien’s supply networkProvide leadership on COE/Procurement related project teamsRepresent the Procurement COE in a leadership capacity on business or project matters requested by other Nutrien functional business partners (Finance, IT, HR, Legal, SHE etc.)Demonstrate a strong initiative, work ethic, and dedication to designing, developing and executing world class, best practice procurement strategies and plansRemain up to date with evolving supply chain practices and standards that may be rapidly changing internally and externally. Become and remain immersed in procurement and warehouse/inventory best practices across industry and sectors (e.g. Procurement Leaders, Gartner/SCM World networks), with strong capabilities in obtaining, adapting, evolving, and executing best practices for Nutrien and our suppliers (for ultimate Nutrien benefit)Develop capabilities to measure trade-offs and continually strike effective balance between the interests of Nutrien, our suppliers, and our commitments to diverse constituenciesDevelop and execute Nutrien’s supply chain Diversity and Inclusion strategies, while continually leveraging and aligning with internal partners such as Sustainability, Corporate Relations/Community Investment, HR, and other relevant internal stakeholder groupsPolicy, Process and Procedures:Responsible for the design, development and ongoing improvement of Procurement Governance;Responsible for design, implementation and monitoring of Nutrien Procurement and end user compliance with Procurement GovernanceResponsible for developing excellent data and reporting capabilities to achieve the aboveCustomer Focus:Enable, promote and enforce, in all aspects and regards, Procurement’s customer-centric mindset and capabilitiesTalent Management:The COE has strong and diverse leaders of each functional area within it: Governance, SRM, Business Procurement Operations, and Legal/Contracts.
