District Sales Manager -Terral Seed
Terral Seed has an opening for a District Sales Manager in eastern Arkansas. This role will perform direct selling activities and demand creation through retail channels as well as educate and service a team of retail sales professionals. It will directly manage retail customers and prospects within assigned geography, provide leadership and vision for the distribution channel (reps, dealers) in the district and administer Terral Seed policies and programs to meet sales and profit goals for the district. Duties and responsibilities include: Selling:
Manage retail sales representatives, dealers, and distributors through the establishment, communication and clarification of expectations.
Coach retail sales people to enhance selling activity, differentiate products and services and build relationships.
Calls on customers with retail sales reps. Serves as a role model, teacher and coach to sales reps demonstrating sales skills and customer responsiveness.
Identify customer and prospect opportunities and establish a plan to capitalize on these opportunities with retail sales reps, dealers.
Direct selling to assigned accounts which includes developing and maintaining the relationship, and servicing the accounts. Technical/Agronomic Services:
Maintain a thorough agronomic and technical knowledge of Terral/REV products.
Trouble shoots customer complaints and work to resolve them either individually or with assistance from agronomic services. Sales Force Development:
Continually teach retail reps and dealers new and better ways to meet the needs of the customer.
Provide necessary skills and knowledge training to meet sales performance objectives. Sales Planning/Territory Management:
Manage assigned account responsibility (AAR) at the sales rep level, focusing customer by customer. Sets sales targets and tactical plans with Sales Manager for assigned customers and prospects.
Customer and prospect management ??? working with Sales Manager on territory management.
Other Management Functions:
Understand customer needs and provide feedback to organization on product performance, program effectiveness and competitive activity. Suggest improvements or alternative tactics to help achieve district and area goals. Continue to develop professionally by remaining current with new technologies, management innovations and sales management developments.
Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Business, Marketing required, will consider other degrees with related field sales experience.
1-5 years of agricultural sales experience. Preferably working with southern Retail/Distribution channels. Competencies: Demonstrated knowledge of:
Selling methodology and technique.
Experience with seed and trait products and services. Marketing tools and techniques. Terral/REV product offerings in relation to seed.
Competitive product/service offerings; local agricultural markets; value chain and crop production practices. Environmental, regulatory, and stewardship requirements for the various technology products. Demonstrated skills in:
Selling, negotiating, influencing, conflict resolution, handling objections and coaching. Using computer hardware software/intranet to generate reports, territory plans, inventory data, and complete administrative duties. Demonstrated ability to:
Build/maintain strong relationships with customers, key industry/market influencers, PHI & internal DuPont partners and teammates.
Work effectively within a team environment. Lead and influence teams/projects and coach individuals in accomplishing defined objectives/goals. Understands the needs and values of partners and customers and to develop solutions to satisfy/retain. Get results by taking initiative, overcoming obstacles & finding creative solutions. Work independently with minimum supervision and operate within budget. Work in and adapt to a rapidly changing business environment.
