EH&S Site Waste Technician

The Environmental Health & Safety Technician (Waste), also referred to as the Site Waste Technician, works closely with the EH&S Delivery Leader and EH&S Delivery (Waste) Specialist to implement EH&S management systems (work process, standards, procedures) in order to meet business EH&S objectives and maintain the sites license to operator in regards to waste management and disposal.The primary responsibilities of a Site Waste Technician are: Implement detailed, task level, day to day EH&S (primarily waste management) programs, utilizing the Dow EH&S work process, standards and procedures. Ensures that the waste aspects of the sites Operating Discipline are adequate and applied to achieve waste management related performance goals. Primary site contact for waste issues. Coaches teams and individuals on EH&S related tasks and activities related to waste management. Assists in developing and achieving department and site EH&S goals related to waste management. As required, participates in investigations of incidents related to waste management and ensures that follow up actions to prevent re-occurrences are addressed. Waste drum storage warehouse manager. Act as the site Waste Coordinator & Waste Scheduler. Provide site and facility specific regulatory knowledge needed to ensure overall regulatory compliance with waste handling requirements. Provide and maintain proper documentation of waste characterizations (i.e. both analytical data and process knowledge). Ensure responsible waste management from the point of generation to transportation. Facilitate accuracy in environmental reporting. Provide both regulatory and plant specific oversight of the waste management process. Accountable for the scheduling and timely transportation of waste. Act as a subject matter expert on EH&S standards related to waste management and conduct training for the sites employees and contractors.QualificationsThe following are required:High School Diploma/GEDWorking knowledge or the ability to develop working knowledge of EH&S work processes and tools related to waste managementAbility to understand department strategy and interpret related performance dataGood computer skills to work with all EH&S process tools as well as Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Power Point)Ability to determine applicability of EH&S standards and policies related to waste managementThe following are preferred:Associates Degree 2-3 years of experience in a waste management, sanitation, safety programs, or related fieldApply for this job.
