We currently have a position available at ourMoses Lake Plant in Moses Lake, WA. The Moses Lake facility is one of fiveplants (Othello, WA; Caldwell, ID; Grand Forks, ND, and Portage la Prairie,Manitoba) within the processed potato division of the Food Group Division ofthe J.R. Simplot Company that produces food service french fries, granulateddehydrated mashed potatoes, shredded and southern style hash browns, andspecialty products. SUMMARYThisposition is responsible to understand the plant electrical systems andequipment. This individual in this position must be capable of troubleshooting,repairing, and maintaining the system. This electrician will be required tofully understand the purpose and operation of the plant electrical systems andall related equipment and systems along with having the ability to makedecisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates. It is imperativethis person conduct themselves in a manner that ensures alertness and constantawareness of the safe operation of equipment and its surroundings. Workrelationships and communications are key ingredients to the success of theindividual holding this position.
They must be able to maintain opencommunications and productive work relationships with team leaders, operators,laborers, mechanics, other electricians, supervisors, and shift managers.Thearea of work includes both inside the facility and outside, depending on workrequirements. Thisposition reports to the Electrical Supervisor and the Shift Manager. RESPONSIBILITIES
Repairs andmaintains electrical systems and control systems on plant equipment.
Troubleshoots andrepairs equipment, electrical networks, control panels and other control systemcomponents.
Interfaces withsupervisory personnel about equipment conditions and difficulties in the plantelectrical system.
Maintains, repairs,and installs plant lighting.
Utilizeselectrical/electronic prints/schematics, ladder logic, plant computer systems,the current National Electrical Codes, and test equipment to complete assignedtasks.
Takes electricalline calls on shift and performs and completed all jobs as assigned.
Enters and performswork on work orders; plans and schedules additional work as needed.
Understand thepurpose of Preventative Maintenance and Predictive Maintenance and participatesin these Programs.
Maintains work areain a clean and functional condition.
Must be able tolocate parts and reference part numbers.
Must be able toaccurately enter data into computer and into daily paperwork in a timelymanner.
Ensures attendanceand participation in training activities appropriate to the position.
Ensures no injuriesto self or others by following safe work practices and policies, LockoutTagout.
Ensuresself-compliance with Company policies and procedures and the Union LaborAgreement.
Ensures theinterface with team members and other support groups is conducted in aparticipative management style conducive with operational goals.
Conducts oneself ina professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standardsnecessary to perform the job functions and while representing theCompany.
Ensures thatadditional accountabilities as may be required by management be handled in amanner necessary to meet operational standards.
Must have a workingknowledge of basic electrical safety practices.
Must have anunderstanding of DC voltage systems (0 to 240V) and AC voltage systems (24 to480).
Must hold acertificate of completion from an approved 2-year trade school, or minimum 4years equivalent experience in an approved industrial environment, ie foodprocessing. (This experience may be all work experience or a combination ofwork and schooling).
A copy of school transcripts will be required andwork experience will be verified.
Must have a workingknowledge of the National Electrical Code.
Must be able toidentify and distinguish colors.
Must be able to usevoltage testers, meggers, amp probes, and other electrical testequipment.
Demonstrate theability to do basic math, and the ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, beable to read a tape measure, and measure with calipers.
Must be able toread, write and communicate in English in a manner to successfully perform jobduties.
Must have computerskills.
Demonstrate theability to safely lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work in extremeenvironments: hot, cold, wet, and slick floors.
Must be able toclimb stairs, ladders, catwalks, and maneuver in close quarters.
Must be able to useappropriate personal protective equipment, such as respirators, SCBA, andsafety harness as appropriate for given tasks.
Must have completeunderstanding and safe operation of hand, power, and shop tools.
Demonstrate manualdexterity in both hands.
Must be able toread and understand basic electrical blueprints, schematics, and technicalmanuals.
Must furnish ownhand tools.
Must be able towork in confined spaces.
