Electrician (Food Group – Moses Lake, WA)

We currently have an Electrician position available in our Moses Lake, WA potato processing plant. SUMMARYThis position is responsible to understand the plant electrical systems and equipment. This individual in this position must be capable of troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining the system.This electrician will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of the plant electrical systems and all related equipment and systems along with having the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates. It is imperative this person conduct themselves in a manner that ensures alertness and constant awareness of the safe operation of equipment and its surroundings.Work relationships and communications are key ingredients to the success of the individual holding this position.
They must be able to maintain open communications and productive work relationships with team leaders, operators, laborers, mechanics, other electricians, supervisors, and shift managers.The area of work includes both inside the facility and outside, depending on work requirements.
This position reports to the Electrical Supervisor and the Shift Manager. RESPONSIBILITIESRepairs and maintains electrical systems and control systems on plant equipment. Troubleshoots and repairs equipment, electrical networks, control panels and other control system components. Interfaces with supervisory personnel about equipment conditions and difficulties in the plant electrical system.Maintains, repairs, and installs plant lighting.Utilizes electrical/electronic prints/schematics, ladder logic, plant computer systems, the current National Electrical Codes, and test equipment to complete assigned tasks. Takes electrical line calls on shift and performs and completed all jobs as assigned.Enters and performs work on work orders; plans and schedules additional work as needed.Understand the purpose of Preventative Maintenance and Predictive Maintenance and participates in these Programs.Maintains work area in a clean and functional condition.Must be able to locate parts and reference part numbers. Must be able to accurately enter data into computer and into daily paperwork in a timely manner. Ensures attendance and participation in training activities appropriate to the position.Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies, Lockout Tagout.Ensures self-compliance with Company policies and procedures and the Union Labor Agreement.
Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a participative management style conducive with operational goals. Conducts oneself in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job functions and while representing the Company.
Ensures that additional accountabilities as may be required by management be handled in a manner necessary to meet operational standards.
REQUIREMENTSMust have a working knowledge of basic electrical safety practices.Must have an understanding of DC voltage systems (0 to 240V) and AC voltage systems (24 to 480).Must hold a certificate of completion from an approved 2-year trade school, or minimum 4 years equivalent experience in an approved industrial environment, ie food processing. (This experience may be all work experience or a combination of work and schooling).
A copy of school transcripts will be required and work experience will be verified.Must have a working knowledge of the National Electrical Code.Must be able to identify and distinguish colors.Must be able to use voltage testers, meggers, amp probes, and other electrical test equipment. Demonstrate the ability to do basic math, and the ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, be able to read a tape measure, and measure with calipers.Must be able to read, write and communicate in English in a manner to successfully perform job duties.Must have computer skills. Demonstrate the ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work in extreme environments: hot, cold, wet, and slick floors.
Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, catwalks, and maneuver in close quarters.
Must be able to use appropriate personal protective equipment, such as respirators, SCBA, and safety harness as appropriate for given tasks.Must have complete understanding and safe operation of hand, power, and shop tools. Demonstrate manual dexterity in both hands.Must be able to read and understand basic electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.Must furnish own hand tools.Must be able to work in confined spaces.
