Energy Sales Associate – ILLINI FS – Urbana, IL

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT This position will serve under the direction of the Energy Department Manager, as well as learn hands-on from the Illini FS Sales and Service team members. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Responsible for making deliveries in a timely manner. Providing excellent customer service by listening to the customers and following up with any issues or questions they may have. Responsible for learning the product lines and available proprietary products. Maintain a working knowledge of the marketplace and the competition. Provide value-added energy products, services, and recommendations to patrons and prospects. Schedule product delivery to customer locations. Assist with patron meetings on product and technical information. Understand marketing plans and sales strategies that generate profitable sales in the assigned territory. Learn target marketing and professional sales techniques including the FS sales interview road map, energy management programs, emphasis of appropriate features and benefits, and contact management system when calling on patrons and prospects. Ensures the credit worthiness of customers, quotes prices and credit terms, and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained. Promotes the use of credit programs as a sales tool and helps provide the required information to establish credit. Works closely with the credit department in collection of accounts receivable. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS Responsible for maintaining the assigned vehicle according to company standards, adheres to the uniform policy, and maintains the appropriate professional image. Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS Requires High School diploma, or the equivalent thereof and at least 5 years of work history in sales, delivery, or service. Normally requires an Energy Management Specialist (EMS) certification, or the ability to obtain one, to demonstrate advanced energy sales training and experience. Demonstrate essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development. Must have and maintain a valid CDL with hazmat endorsements. Ability to travel independently and overnight as needed. Must have the ability to work beyond what would be considered normal working hours.
