Engineer III – Mechanical
SUMMARY:This position designs and initiates complex layouts for projects, develop scopes of work and write specifications for proposals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. This person should be capable of providing effective project management from inception through construction and installation. On assigned projects, the Senior Project Engineer shall organize the design resources; supervise design, specification and procurement and coordinate the company's objectives regarding capacity, operability, economics and timelines. This person will also be involved in the selection of approved contractors, and will decide which systems are best suited for a specific application and how they are tobe installed. Additional duties and responsibilities include: Be familiar with OSHA regulations and by working with Safety Coordinators, become familiar with Tyson's safety regulations; provide engineering design for new projects and utility systems; help conduct annual boiler inspections (if applicable), compressed air, heat exchanger, drying equipment, hydraulic, ventilation, hot water, cold water, steam system, thermal fluid system, air scrubbing, odor control system inspections; and write comprehensive reports recommending design considerations, stand-by recommendations, repair or replacement activities and code compliance issues. The Senior Project Engineer should have a working knowledge of applicable codes that pertain to development of Mechanical Engineering standards; coordinates project design work including planning, design calculations, flow sheets, mechanical layouts, piping diagram, electrical, insulation, etc. The engineer will interact with other engineering disciplines; and maintain current project knowledge of project cost and assumes responsibility for project cost management. The engineer will consult with accounting personnel relative to project accounting procedures and project costs.REQUIREMENTS:Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering required. Registration (by examination) as a Professional Engineer preferred: A minimum of 5 years applicable engineering experience.Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Computer Skills: Knowledge and use of computer programs, spreadsheet, database and scheduling programs. Microsoft exposure preferred.Special Skills: Capable of working on multi-facetedprojects of any magnitude while requiring limited supervision; Has demonstrated repeated ability to complete complex projects on time and on budget.
