PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
This position is in responsible charge of the practice of professional environmental engineering activities in States, Provinces, and disciplines as assigned and provides engineering, environmental compliance, prevention, remediation, design, estimating, procurement, and project management services for customers? facilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Oversees, controls, and performs engineering activities as assigned and assures engineering work is performed in accordance with standards of reasonable professional skill and diligence. Provides PE certifications for environmental permits, SPCC plans, etc. as required by State or Federal law.
Ensures compliance with codes, regulations, standards, and safety practices on assigned projects.? Assists customers in obtaining operational, environmental, and construction permits.? Provides regulatory input through industry association involvement and code writing participation.
Leads customers through projects by conducting professional interviews, providing technically sound alternatives, collaboratively defining project scope and definition, and responding with quality deliverables.
Investigates and resolves facility operations problems through expert knowledge and applied engineering principles. ?Solicits assistance from qualified others as necessary.
Establishes project specifications, provides cost estimates and construction management including:? vendor and contractor selection and oversight, contract administration, site inspections, payment processing, job costing, and proactive customer communications.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Develops professional working relationships with regulatory authorities, consultants, manufacturers, vendors, and contractors.? Oversees and coordinates the services of consultants.? Serves as a liaison between regulatory agencies, GROWMARK System personnel, and consultants.
Participates in industry and professional organizations.? Maintains knowledge of applicable regulations and standards.? Proactively shares engineering knowledge and training and mentors Engineering and Environmental staff.
Responds to emergency response situations and provides technical guidance to the ?On Scene Coordinator?, emergency responders, and regulatory agencies.
Follows GROWMARK?s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Normally requires a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, or the equivalent thereof, and 5 years or more of environmental engineering or compliance related work experience.? Demonstrates the ability to provide environmental service leadership to the GROWMARK System.
Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.
Normally requires having or obtaining training in the Hazwoper Emergency Response regulations (40 hrs.) and active knowledge of environmental regulations including CERCLA, RCRA UST/LUST, Federal and State air rules, State Fire Marshal rules, national fire prevention codes, and SPCC.
Current licensing as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Illinois, Iowa, or Wisconsin and ability to be registered in other States or Provinces on an as-needed, assigned basis.?
Possess knowledge and experience working with the storage, transport, handling, packaging, and distribution of Liquid and Dry Fertilizer, Agricultural Pesticides and Insecticides and other Agrichemicals, Seed, Grain, and Agricultural Input products.
Possess knowledge of remedial project and construction techniques and procedures including contracts, change orders, lien wavers, payments, completions, and start-ups.
Have proven computer skills including AutoCad and the ability to use the computer to enhance business processes.
Must have and maintain a valid driver?s license and satisfactory driving record. ?Must have and maintain a valid passport and have the ability to travel independently and overnight when necessary.
Occasionally required to traverse construction and facility sites, climb building and other structure heights, and ability to lift and carry 60 pounds as needed to inspect and investigate projects.
Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK?s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.?
