Position Summary: ADM is seeking an experienced mechanic at our American River Transportation Company (ARTCo) fleeting location in Waggaman, LA. Job Responsibilities: Complete tasks with minimal supervision, and act as lead on tasks as neededTroubleshoot vessel machinery with minimal assistanceMaintain supply inventoryFill in as mechanic technician as neededObtain outside contractors as neededNotify immediate supervisor of non-operable, inadequate, or unsafe equipment or working conditionsDesignated Person in Charge for oil transfersComplete all required trainingsReport all injuries, illnesses, and near misses in a timely mannerAdditional duties and responsibilities as required or requestedJob Requirements: Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, piping, electrical devices, and other vessel machinery.Perform repairs and service a wide variety of equipment with minimal supervision including: changing batteries/gauges/motors/pumps and performing diesel engine work (turbos, exhaust manifolds, water pumps, etc.)Ability to follow direction and execute tasks under the supervision of the port engineerAbility to complete engine overhauls, engine swings, and gearbox swings with minimal supervisionAbility to align, straighten, and maintain steering systemsAbility to give accurate repair scopes and timelinesReading and writing skills sufficient to comprehend/complete a variety of documentsAbility to work a flexible schedule; must allow for changes in assignments, and priorities depending upon identified needs of the operationsAbility to work well independently as well as part of a teamMust be able to work in all types of climatesPromote the ADM Way and core ValuesMust have a demonstrated history of safe work behavior and a sincere desire to follow and improve upon safety policies and proceduresAbility to work extended hours, evenings, weekends, Holidays and be on-call as requested.
