Facilities and Engineering Manager
The DuPont Industrial Bioscience???s Avon Plant Site is a small high hazard plant in Martinez, CA. On site resources total <50 individuals in a combination of full time and contract roles. The plant is dedicated to the production of sulfuric acid catalyst (24/7 operation). The Facilities and Engineering Manager reports to the Avon Plant Manager and is a member of the site???s leadership team assisting in the overall development of the organization and driving strong accountability regarding core values (safety, health, environment, and respect for people). The Facilities and Engineering Manager is responsible for all aspects of the plant???s maintenance and capital programs. This individual will direct and oversee repair, prevention, replacement, and construction projects for all facilities and equipment within the plant site with the intent to develop solutions and systems that improve safety, reliability, and overall efficiency/performance. Due to the small nature of the plant, the Facilities and Engineering Manager must balance office work with in-the-field problem solving, directing, and coaching. This position requires occasional evenings and weekend work to support emergencies, non-routine work, and plant turnarounds. Job Duties: Provide leadership and development to the plant???s maintenance (8-12 individuals) and engineering personnel (2-4 individuals). Set expectations and hold employees accountable for performance and professional behavior. Model expected behaviorDevelop and oversee the plant???s maintenance program???including budget, preventative maintenance, planning and scheduling, spare parts inventory, training, and procedures Develop and manage the plant???s annual capital plan and budget, including development of a long-term improvement strategy (3 to 10-year plan)Ensure team adheres to a disciplined project management process from concept to turnover. Ensure stakeholders are engaged and valued throughout the process Plan, staff, and manage plant turnarounds to achieve safe, efficient execution of projects Lead one or more process safety (PSM) elements and/or SHE competencies. These may include Management of Change Technology, Machine Safety, Contract Administration, etc. Ensure control of engineering technical documentation. Drive improvements in quality and accuracy of documentation Develop and oversee appropriate reliability and quality assurance programs Conduct and participate in root cause failure analysis. Drive corrective actions Develop and facilitate site decision board to green-light, prioritize, and assign projectsEnsure maintenance and engineering work is done in accordance with standardsCoordinate contract support and Corporate leveraged resources as needed Drive improvements in housekeeping and assist with the implementation of a 5S program Develop and use visual management for metrics and work execution Participate in plant leadership team and appropriate committees Interact with site, business, and corporate personnel to share information, collaborate, and ensure stakeholder needs are understood Support plant R&D trials and other cross-functional continuous improvement effortsOther duties and projects as assigned Qualifications:Required Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:BS Degree in Engineering (mechanical preferred) plus broad enough technical experience and depth to lead a multi-disciplined engineering and maintenance team Seven or more years of industrial manufacturing maintenance and technical leadership with direct supervisory experience of exempt and non-exempt employees Strong knowledge of design for manufacturability/producibility Strong knowledge of maintenance-reliability, management of change-technology, mechanical integrity/quality assurance, and other PSM/safety systems and elements Demonstrated strong project management/leadership skillsExperience using IP21 or other process historian/production data management software package (implementation experience helpful)Demonstrated ability to use tools such as RCFA, FMEA, and statistical analysis Strong continuous improvement skillset and experience in organizational developmentAbility to train, coach, and mentor others Strong leadership skills and ability to work independently and collaborativelyPreferred Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Specific knowledge of California laws and regulations Strong knowledge and understanding of the DuPont Project Process. General industry best practices are also a plusCAD experience ??? AutoCAD, Microstation, 3D modelingMetallurgical experience with corrosive environmentsFinite Element Analysis, Heat Transfer Modeling, Fluid Flow AnalysisUnderstanding and or experience with high performance work systApply for this job.
