Farm Manager – #01REZ
We are seeking a motivated Farm Manager. This position will be located in Kihei, HI, reporting to our Planting and Operations Lead. The role will partner with the teams on site to support research and seed production to achieve the goals set by our organization in a sustainable manner. This individual will join a fast-paced team focusing on delivering optimal results while continuing to re-invent the processes of the group. The selected individual will be responsible for managing a farm and for driving agronomic decisions and improvements across all the farms at the Maui location. This individual is critical to research implementation and will have the opportunity to work with cutting edge proprietary field research equipment, superior genetic material, and help drive a critical multi-season program. Key Responsibilities:Ensure that team is trained and follows all ESH procedures, regulatory and compliance protocols, and business conduct protocols. Participate in the hiring and supervision of program support staff. Partner with other Agronomy Team managers to develop programs to deliver maximum sustainable production. Continue site efforts to develop and improve plans to reduce pests, weeds, and erosion while delivering high quality results. Think strategically about the future model of the team including equipment and processes. Provide agronomic expertise and mentoring for site. Provide leadership to farm team, and drive development of direct reports. Drive data/metrics collection and use to inform labor and business decisions Qualifications:Required Skills/Experience:Bachelor of Science in Agronomy, Crop Production, Soil Science, Weed Science, Biology, or other biological field. 3 years??? experience in crop production, agronomic operations, or plant research. Experience in all aspects of crop production including tillage, equipment, fertility, and pest control. Knowledge and understanding of nursery design and field layout. Excellent IT aptitude in GPS systems and Microsoft Office Suite applications.Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary and multicultural team with a variety of partners. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team to achieve project goals. Ability to manage change and prioritize as necessary to meet business and/or customer deadlines.Highly developed people leadership, talent management, interpersonal skills including influencing, coaching, facilitation, conflict resolution, relationship management and project management.Demonstrated track record of continuous improvement and leading employees to success. Ensure appropriate goals are established for all direct reports and teams completing periodic review.Desired Skills/Experience: Master???s Degree in Agronomy, Crop Production, Soil Science, Weed Science, Biology, or other biological field. 5 years??? experience in crop production, agronomic operations, or plant research. Experience with minimum-till or no-till crop production. Experience with drip irrigation or sub-surface drip irrigation crop production. Experience integrating technology and computer systems into crop production.
