?Job Description:The Maschhoffs, the largest family-owned hog production network in North America, is currently seeking a Farm Manager in the Springfield, IL area.?Job Overview:The primary responsibility of the farm manager is to oversee the welfare, care and day-to-day management of their animals. They will insure good production through the implementation of standard operating procedures, maintenance of careful and accurate records, employee development, promotion of the well being of animals in their care, and good environmental stewardship.?Job Duties & Accountabilities:?Typical Duties of a Farm Manager include:?Having the skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform as a manager by committing to being the best team member, leader and individual that they can be.Promote the development of all team members? production, leadership and organizational skills through open and honest informal daily feedback, formal training sessions, goal setting and daily organization of their activities.Performing local human resource management including:Promotion of safe work habits, maintenance of a safe working environment and documentation of all work related injuriesRecruitment and hiring of new team membersScheduling work hours, vacation and leave days of all employeesReporting all time worked and not worked to the payroll systemDiscipline and termination of employees with documentation of discipline, termination recordsAssist in the development and provide input and suggestions to insure the implementation of standard operating procedures (SOP), such as, but not limited to:Feeding strategiesMonitoring and maintaining proper temperature and ventilation ratesAnimal movements and animal careUse of pharmaceutical (medication) and biological products (vaccines)Perform timely duties and comply with practices that promote the health of the animals under their care (commonly referred to as bio-security practices) which include but are not limited to:Remaining away from pigs not owned by companies managed by TMIChanging footwear and clothing as requiredMaintaining bird proof facilitiesObservation of SOPs for transportation of livestock, supplies and feedRodent baiting on the inside and outside of the buildings, keep and maintain adequate rodent baiting records on a weekly and monthly basisRemove dead animals according to standardized protocolReport violations of these practices to their supervisorOversee the daily production activities of their sites including:Organization of team members? time including regular discussions with section managers and team members on long term planning, goal setting and prioritization of activities.Implementation and review of standard operating proceduresCoordination of feed and supply deliveriesDaily care that promotes well being and increased productivity of all animals under their care.Monitoring the health of all animals and provide the required vaccinations, medications, injections, and other medications as needed to promote animal well being and increased production.Keep and maintain accurate production records to assist in the development of the team, themselves and the improvement of the system. In addition, maintain an accurate record of the number of animals under their management that can be submitted for auditing and accounting purposes when requested.Perform maintenance and repairs on buildings and equipment, as well as, housekeeping responsibilities of the barn facilities including trash removal, cleanliness of the office spaces, lunchrooms, and employee changing areas.Enforce and implement best management practices for environmental stewardship includingReporting all cases of environmental contamination by swine waste to the TMI EMS team as soon as the discharge is stopped.Proper regulation of manure storage facility (pit) levelsFlushing time and recharge of manure handling systems within the barns.Coordinate with environmental management system staff a regular schedule and timing of proper waste management techniques.?Minimum Qualifications?EducationHigh School diploma or GED. ?AAS or BS in Animal Science or related agriculture field preferred.?ExperienceTwo (2) years of experience working in a swince production environment required. ?Experience with direct employee supervision is preferred.?Knowledge of:Livestock/swine management and handlingCompany policies and proceduresStandard maintenance proceduresProper pig terminology and livestock handlingMS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook) and basic understanding of computers is preferred?Ability to:Work independently, as well as being a team playerEffectively monitor and develop subordinates to insure smooth operation of the farmMaintain confidentialityDesire to learn new skillsConfront ?direct reports and hold people accountable when necessaryUse production records to facilitate improvementsUnderstand company vision and strategy?Skill in:Clear and consise verbal and written communication skillsApplicataion of company tools for leadership development and learningBuilding effective teams and motivating them to achieve high performance?The Maschhoffs offers competitive wages and exceptional benefits.Apply for this job.
