Vegetable Farm OperatorRuhlig Farms has been a grower of quality produce since 1970. A family owned business, we are searching for a skilled farm operator who is looking for a new challenge and ready to join our team!The Farm Operator position will be primarily responsible for shop maintenance and operation of equipment. In the field, an operator will be expected to perform field work including but not limited to disking, plowing, tunneling, plastic laying, planting, spraying, cultivating, and driving truck, etc. Ruhlig Farms is a fresh market produce farm, so experience with custom equipment and modern farming technology such as GPS is preferred. An operator will also be responsible for maintaining field records & dates, application rates, an understanding of field maps, and basic agronomy skills.A successful candidate will have crop farm experiences and working knowledge of the produce industry and other aspects of crop production including irrigation, ground tillage, production facilities, warehousing and inventories. In the shop, a successful candidate will need to be able to troubleshoot and provide repairs on equipment. Other shop duties and responsibilities may include, but not be limited to:Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic operations and repairs.Fabricate repair parts by utilizing shop tools, grinders, welding equipment, etc.Ability to maintain a clean & orderly working environment, track inventories of hydraulic supplies, anticipated parts needed, and other shop supplies.Tasks that require a general understanding of carpentry or building practices.Ability to work systematically and independentlyOpportunities for growth and management may be available based on experience and job performance.Requirements: High School Diploma or GEDSecondary education or trade school/vocational training in a related field such as agriculture or diesel mechanics.
