Farm SuperintendentCollege of Agriculture, Cooperative ExtensionUniversity of Kentucky?The Farm Superintendent is responsible for the operation of the North Farm Research Complex (NF), a 2400 acre extensive and diversified research facility located at 2275 Turner Place, Lexington, KY. The position provides support to the faculty and staff of the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment conducting research and educational activities at the NF. The Farm Superintendent provides planning, oversight, and management primarily at the NF but also can include additional locations. The person in this position supervises a staff of 11-13 employees and is responsible for a very large and varied fleet of vehicles/equipment. Much of the equipment is specialized and highly technical. The position is responsible for a crop production program (primarily hay). The Farm Superintendent must maintain and/or develop an excellent relationship with vendors, suppliers, users of the NF, and supporters of the University. The position works to ensure facilities are well maintained and assists with site security; maintains operations within a budget; participates with a team to ensure that the NF is environmentally compliant; and provides support for the various collateral duties that accompany this position (Federal Excess Personal Property program, staff for transportation, moving, storage, annual surplus property auction, snow removal for roads primarily on NF, and assistance in emergencies). The person must reside (in residence provided) on the research facility in order to provide the oversight and staffing to address emergent conditions as well as be available for contact outside normal working hours.?Minimum requirements for the position are a Bachelor's degree and 4 years of related experience, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
