In this role, the Farming Analyst helps drive the agriculture department reporting and planning process, supports the team on key business decisions, and evaluates performance against a variety of key performance indicators. The Farming Analysist works on projects and studies related to expense performance, resource efficiency and short/long-term forecasting. The Farming Analyst will report directly to the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis with a dotted line to the Table Grape General Manager and will be based out of our Bakersfield office. The primary responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:Reporting & Analysis (60%)Conduct quantitative and financial analysis within the farming operations, with special emphasis on reporting, performance drivers and drainers, variance analysis, and management summariesDevelop, track and report daily, weekly, monthly performance reports and KPI s to ensure decision makers have timely information availableCollect, analyze, and create reports to determine costs of business activitiesOptimize, manipulate and maintain existing reports, databases and queriesIdentify cost savings opportunities across the businessResponsible for the preparation and distribution of management reports & operation analysis for internal use within the farming departmentProvide timely, relevant, and accurate reporting on operational performance against historical, budget, and forecast results to facilitate necessary decision-makingLeverage multiple IT platforms and analytical tools to report and analyze informationUnderstand and facilitate the integration of business processes, people, and relevant technology, in order to identify, configure, and communicate useful informationForecasting (30%)Manage and build the agricultural operations (harvest, pre-harvest, chemical, irrigation and general ranch) annual operating plan and intra-year forecasts using dynamic multivariable scenario modelingMaintain and develop various financial models and standard templates to be used by the Accounting and Finance Department during planning processesCollaborate with Accounting Department to identify needed resources to achieve operational goalsWork closely with operational teams to validate assumptions and quantify potential operational impactsOther (10%)Maintain fluid and open communication between finance/accounting and management teamProvide support for commodities outside table grapesPerform other duties as assignedEssential Skills, Knowledge and AbilitiesAdvanced Microsoft Office skills with a strong emphasis on Excel and PowerPointFamiliarity with Famous Software and Business Intelligence is a plusProven analytical, financial modeling and strategic thinking skills with a high level of attention to detailSkilled at using a commonsense approach to problem solving and the ability to exercise sound judgement and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysesAbility to holistically balance multiple projects and manage deadlines accordinglyExceptional interpersonal skills and ability to communicate both orally and writtenWillingness to work as a team member and ability to work independently without close supervisionHigh level of integrity and accountability with a strong sense of urgencyQualifications and Education RequirementsBachelor s Degree in either Accounting, Business, Finance or equivalent experience1-3 years experience in public accounting, FP&A functions, farming operations or related business environmentExperience in a fast-paced, growing, ever changing environment, preferable with food/ agriculture companyKnowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, such as GAAP and accrual-based accountingEqual Employment Opportunity EmployerApply for this job.
