We believe in hiring talented people to help us in our mission to deliver a high quality, safe and wholesome pork product to consumers while giving each of our employees the opportunity to be a part of an outstanding and professional work setting.Position Overview and ResponsibilitiesThis position is responsible for leadership and management of ingredient procurement for company owned feed mills and toll mills. ?Knowledge and skills necessary include understanding of ingredient commodity markets, swine nutrition, relative value of ingredients, supplier management, industry regulations, and transportation logistics is necessary. ?Strategic collaboration and tactical coordination with operations, nutrition, and finance managers, as well as suppliers, is critical for success in this role. ?Departmental management includes business planning, direct and indirect budget oversight, performance metrics and benchmarking, and staff development and leadership. Ultimately, it requires the ability to achieve overall best value ingredient strategies for the organization by working closely with feed mill and nutrition staff.Key Areas of Responsibility:Leadership/ManagementProvide leadership, direction, and management of organizational feed ingredient procurementFacilitate effective working relationships and outcomes with feed mill and nutrition staffImprove skills and associated results of current staff through training and coachingManagement of ingredient demand projections, procurement, inventory, contract positions, and delivery logisticsResponsible for basis results of corn and soybean meal, and delivered cost of all other ingredients.Management of ingredient and total incurred cost of tolled feedSupport brokerage activities and directionKnowledge of relative value of ingredients, supplier contracts, and transportation logisticsCompany representation with suppliers, market consultants, and industry resourcesNegotiation and performance of contractsOperations Strategy/ExecutionMaintain ingredient market and business intelligence as a basis for varied feeding strategiesAttain and utilize spot, forward and futures price discovery for analysis, forecasting and forward procurementPropose, establish, and manage desired positionsReconcile and report results in collaboration with Accounting/Finance staffProvide analysis of benchmarking and identify and implement improvementsDevelop tools and reports for decision making around products and commodity purchasesSupport execution of risk management activitiesOversee and/or support inventory management processesQualifications/Requirement:Bachelor's degree or equivalent.At least 5 years' experience in ingredient purchasing and logistics in the feed industry, agricultural field preferred.Expertise in both technical and fundamental principles and practices of grain merchandising.Intermediate level Microsoft Excel skill is required. ?Strong written and verbal communication skills.Highly competent in negotiation skills.Strong analytical skills.Ability to apply critical thinking and problem solving skills.Understanding of accounting systems, financial analysis, budgeting and inventory control processes.Proven track record of developing and implementing systems and procedures to increase quality and efficiency.Prior supervisory and and/or management skills required.Results focused individual that thrives on organizational progress.Ability to produce results in a fast paced environment.Specialized or Motorized Equipment and/or Tools:This position will require occasionally operating a company vehicle or mileage reimbursement.
