Feed QA and Safety Manager
OBJECTIVE: Position Purpose:This position reports directly to the General Manager and has direct oversight for all food safety, quality, regulatory and personal safety. In this role, the Quality & Safety Manager will be accountable to successfully develop and execute our food safety systems, along with health and safety programs to ensure compliance with all regulatory authorities. The individual in this role will work hand in hand with the Director of Operations to design and implement plans to improve plant performance by reducing re-work and customer complaints, all while ensuring the safety of our employees.To direct, promote, and coordinate the location employees, facilities and equipment that will serve customers, increase market share and savings, control expenses, to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency to its customers and members. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITES:
Supervises the personnel and daily operations of the location.
Responsible for all personnel, equipment, equipment maintenance, and record keeping.
Responsible for the receiving and quality of grain and feed ingredients.
Maintain communication with supervisor concerning grain and feed quality and available inventory.
Accurate billing of products and services.
Implementation of all policies and procedures
Schedule and supervise employees.
Coordinate production with receiving and shipping.
Produce feeds that meet specifications.
Operate within FDA & OSHA guidelines.
Oversee feed deliveries
Schedule and receive ingredients that meet specifications and minimize demurrage and monitor quality specifications.
Ensure passing of all feed quality audits.
Ensure quality of products of precuts from ingredients to finished feed.
Monitor maintenance of feed mills and rolling stock related to the feed division.
Responsible for the safety of employees and customers in the location and coordinate safety issues with the total company.
Submit all required reports to the Feed Department Manager and General Manager.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Feed Department Manager or General Manager.

Education RequiredBachelors degree in food/feed science, food safety or related field or relevant experience. 3+ years experience in a food/feed processing environment. Experience in program management and administration.Competencies-Skills (Required): Knowledge of GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points).Experience with continuous improvement tools and processesExcellent verbal and written communication skills. Good presentation skillsStrong organizational and follow up skills.Good math skills Ability to work with diverse groups in a team environment Adept at working with minimal supervision.Ability to multitask effectively Ability and willingness to work at times outside of normal hours when necessary to perform the duties of the position.Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish fact and draw valid conclusions Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook.Good driving record.
