If that describes you, then there is a place for you at our table.Summary of Qualifications Excellent breadth of knowledge and experience in potato industry.Good interpersonal and presentation skills (talking, writing, reasoning). Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Contract raw product volume with grower/suppliers and monitor their operations.Promote professional relations between the company and grower/suppliers through farm and storage visits.Support raw potato contract negotiations, contract development and procurement requirements.Recommend contract language changes necessary to secure required raw volume, price and quality.Coordinate purchasing activity with forecast requirements. Meet daily with raw product scheduler and plant scheduler to coordinate optimal raw supply with demand to assure factory meets production targets every day.Perform backup support duties for raw product scheduling.Inspect, gather, analyze and report potato crop growth data and field activities of contract grower/suppliers.Retrieve field samples during the growing season and prior to harvest.Proactively inspect and monitor raw product storage facilities for environmental conditions and product quality.Proactively collect and process grower/suppliers field and storage records including seed source data, chemical application records, & agronomic data.Monitor grower/suppliers compliance with USDA Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) program.  Assure that they are complying with on farm audits.Assure compliance of raw potato traceability records and food safety requirements.Actively participate in the roll out of the foreign material reduction plan and conduct audits.Assist in development and implementation of Agronomy program initiatives. Collect industry agronomic and cost of production information.Attend and participate in local and national agricultural production education meetings to gain knowledge of current agricultural practices. Proactively communicate with grower/suppliers key improvement areas with respect to production, quality, food safety, alignment and diversity spend.Actively participate in company initiatives, Lean Manufacturing /MCE process and leadership meetings.Participate in leadership and personal development program.Perform backup support duties for monitoring company raw storages.  Proactively aid in quality improvement and shrink reduction.Assist in supervision and evaluation of potato handlers, scale clerks, laboratory technicians and seasonal laborers.Drive the Safety Agenda in the work environment.Assist in development and implementation of standard operating procedures.Aid in development and implementation of Field Department strategic operating plan.Have knowledge of Field Department budget and assist in development of annual budget.Expand diversity dollar spend with minority suppliers.Other duties may be assigned.   Required Competencies for Field Representative Competent skill set in Grower Management System Training (GMS)Competent skill set in McCain Potato Contracting and Receiving System (PC&R)Competent skills set in Potato Data Base (PDB)Participation in McCain Regional Agricultural meetingsParticipation in Regional or national industry meetingsParticipation in Employee Involvement/Safety meetingsSuccessful completion of McCain Code of Conduct trainingSuccessful completion of Annual HACCP trainingSuccessful completion of Annual Sexual Harassment Awareness training Scope of Authority All Employees have the right to question or refuse a work related directive that is unsafe.All Employees are expected to take appropriate measures, regarding employee, product or equipment safety.QualificationsMinimum to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty in a satisfactory manner. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Education and/or ExperienceRequired qualifications include a B.S. degree in agriculture or equivalent related field plus a solid breadth of knowledge and experience in field work.  Two years of experience within the agricultural industry is a requirement. Candidate must have excellent computer software skills in word processing, spreadsheets and data management.  Excellent communication skills are necessary.  Language SkillsHave ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Have ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Have ability to speak effectively before groups of suppliers or employees of the organization. Mathematical SkillsHave ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Candidate must have ability to produce and interpret charts/graphs. Reasoning AbilityHave ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.  Have ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsValid State driver’s license Work EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
