Field Testing Agronomist (Othello, Washington) – #01R6E
We are seeking a motivated Field Testing Agronomist. This position will be located in Othello, Washington and reporting to the Site Lead. The Field Testing Agronomist is a key role with a developmental opportunity that will work across multiple crops supporting the North America Field Testing Organization. The field testing projects will include testing the best genetics from our industry leading canola, corn, cotton, sorghum, soybean and wheat breeding programs as well as working with leading edge technology from Commercial, Discovery Traits and Chemistry. This position will report to the Filer, Idaho location, but can be located within the Palouse region of Washington. Key Responsibilities:Work independently to administer and provide maintenance of testing locations and operating research planting and harvesting equipmentPreparation for/and planting, field plot maintenance, data collection and harvestingInteract with scientists and breeders on and off-site for project related needsParticipate in task-related document creation and process review for job-related activitiesEnsure that company assets are well-cared for and properly maintainedEstablish long-term relationships with cooperators to locate and rent appropriate yield trial land on an annual basisManage testing and evaluation of new biotechnology traits and other new products at the off site locationsMaintain Monsanto???s Freedom to Operate by adhering to all Federal and State Regulatory Compliance requirementsAdminister and execute Regulatory Science projects to ensure complianceResponsible for specific aspects of the home site???s safety programResponsible for recruiting and sourcing part time in season labor to help ensure program successDevelop and maintain relationships with Technology Development Reps & Sales Reps to help steward current products and introduce new productsQualifications:Required Skills:Minimum of a Bachelor???s Degree (or higher) in Agronomy, Weed Science, Entomology, Soil Science, Plant Pathology or a closely related fieldMinimum of two or more years of post graduate experience in plot researchTraining and experience in experimental design, field test plot management, statistics and data interpretationAbility to obtain (or already possess) State Certified Pesticide Applicators licenseStrong computer skills in MS OfficeDemonstrated self-discipline, ability to function effectively without direct supervision, and ability to work effectively with othersDemonstrated ability to develop strong interpersonal relationshipsEffective verbal and written communication skillsAbility to provide technical leadership to product and project teamsExcellent time management skillsExperience operating agricultural equipmentAbility to push, lift or pull up to 50 lbs.Ability to work in strained or cramped positionsAbility to travel 50% of the time within the region including overnight staysDesired Skills:Master???s Degree (or higher) in Agronomy, Weed Science, Entomology, Soil Science, Plant Pathology or a closely related fieldSix or more years of experience in a closely related roleAbility to obtain (or already possess) a Class A CDL Driver's LicenseStrong computer skills utilizing scientific softwarePrevious farm experienceBayer successfully completed the acquisition of Monsanto in June 2018, bringing together Monsanto???s leadership in seeds and plant traits with Bayer???s leadership in chemical and biological crop protection.
