First Line Production Supervisor

CASC NA business reaches across Canada, United States & Mexico with an expansive asset footprint including over 200 grain elevators, export/import facilities, oilseed crush plants, biodiesel facilities, and farm service centers.
The purpose of this position is to provide technical knowledge, operations experience, and management skills at a first line supervisory level in the daily direction and efficient performance of activities/functions on a daily shift basis to attain short and long term facility objectives.
40% – Organize, plan, and manage export terminal activities, including unloading barges and rail cars, vessel loading, stevedoring, on a daily shift basis in terms of safety, product safety, product quality, customer satisfaction, time delivery, costs, environment, and sanitation and production employee leadership. Utilize technical skills and operations experience to promote the identification and solution of workplace problems and recommend and implement operating efficiencies.
30% – Build employee engagement through positive working relationships and promotion of an enthusiastic and open atmosphere where employees will want to offer their ideas. Ensure work is performed according to specifications and standards. Develop and coach employees through Cargill Performance Management Process (PMP) as well as manage the disciplinary process. Communicate in a courteous and positive manner to accomplish duties effectively, working as a team with all involved..
30% – Ensure work team complies with Cargill, business unit and facility policies and procedures and regulatory requirements. Monitor inventory and operating supplies, ensure availability of consumable supplies, and provide communications to ensure the procurement of necessary supplies to maintain safe and efficient operations. Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment utilized by facility; determine immediate and long-range needs for maintenance and repair work.? Enter work orders utilizing maintenance computer program. Maintain a safe and sanitary atmosphere with a high regard for environmental impact of the operation.Skills:
? 2+ years of experience in a related field
? Advanced computer skills utilizing Microsoft programs: Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access
? Able to work a rotating shift (12 hour shifts) ? Including Weekends and Holidays
? Able and willing to work in an outdoor environment with exposure to grain dust
? Able to ascend and descend stairs, ladders, etc., to work in elevated areas of the plant, and must be able to work in confined spaces
? Able to lift 25 pounds
? Able to learn computer software programs such as maintenance database (i.e. SAP, RT DUET)
? Able to develop and manage good working relationships with internal departments (maintenance, logistics, contractors, suppliers, inspectors and customers)
? Able to develop staff accountability.
? 2+ years? experience in applying policies and procedures in the areas of safety, environmental, health and food safety
? Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.? Able to speak candidly and provide constructive feedback
? Able to make independent decisions
? 2+ years? experience coaching others for high performance and high engagement; motivate, inspire, and engage others to excel and work towards the vision in a teamwork environment
