Position Purpose:In this role, the Food Scientist will work as part of a team to plan and execute research projects that support Cargill Protein?s business strategy for Customer Focused Innovation work in the Foodservice channel. The focus of these projects will be on insight driven new product development and product/ process improvement to align with our customer?s needs, primarily around eggs. As needed, the scientist may be called upon to work with customers, identifying and supporting their innovation needs. This individual will work closely with Business Management, Operations, Marketing, Sales, Consumer Insights, and Food Safety Quality and Regulatory (FSQR) personnel throughout the development cycle to create and implement new products and processes.? The purpose of this position is to provide technical expertise and project leadership to: 1) New product development for product line growth 2) Process development for the creation of new capabilities 3) Creation, perfection, and defense of new and existing IP
50% Research and develop innovative customer focused new products, services, and solutions that deliver commercially viable new products. Includes formulation and prototype development.
40% Provide technical leadership in product and process development to NPD team
10% Build, maintain and defend IP portfolioSkills:
Required Qualifications:??A BS degree in Food Science or similar discipline?AND a minimum of 3+ years experience in new product development and/or commercialization of new products.??? ??Travel ? Yes ? Up to 10%??Ability to work in various environment such as labs, pilot plants and plants is required.??Highly motivated individual with a strong background in scientific methods and project management skills are required.??Strong problem-solving skills? ??Data analysis, experimental design, technical writing and effective vocal communication skills are also required.??Working familiarity with food safety practices such as GMPs, HACCP and Regulatory??Ability to work with Foodservice customers to understand their innovation needs??This position requires a high level of proficiency using Microsoft Office including Excel, Outlook and Power Point.? ??Ability to work as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:??MS degree in Food Science with a focus on protein??5+ years experience in new product development and/or commercialization of new products.???? ??Experience in the Foodservice channel such as restaurants, C-Stores and hotels is desirable ??Experience working with eggs is desirable??Ability to leverage outside resources such as professional organizations, vendors and academia to enhance innovation capacity??Previous experience with statistical software is highly preferred.??Familiarity with basic culinary skills
