?Company Description?The Morning Star Company, and its affiliates, operate three tomato processing facilities in Central California, processing 35% to 40% of the California crop, plus tomato transplanting, farming, harvesting and trucking ?operations. ??Valley Sun is the largest independent producer of sun dried tomatoes in the United States. ?We produce multiple forms of sun dried and dried tomato products for the ingredient, retail and foodservice markets. The Company has recently gone through structural changes and is looking for a key member of the team to revitalize and aggressively grow all sales channels of the operation. ? ??Job Description?The Mission and PositionThe qualified candidate will work to build Valley Sun's current sales volume as well as penetrate new markets and sales channels. ?This individual must be a sales professional, possessing the requisite persuasive, interpersonal, negotiation and leadership skills to maintain and expand profitable sales opportunities across North America. ?The individual must be independent, confident and driven. The position would ideally be located at our Newman facility; however, for the right candidate other locations will be strongly considered.Specific Responsibilities and ActivitiesDevelop and implement strategic sales plans to accomplish corporate goals in your territories, in concert with other Colleagues.Research and develop new hot leads to grow the customer base or identify new sales opportunities on an on-going basis.Prepare weekly sales reports and other periodic reports showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed sales growth.Manage your customer?s service and all customer transactions in your territories. Provide all necessary information in the correct format to accounting and production to complete a sale transition.Manage all promotions, accrual funds, rebates, demonstrations, and ensure authorization for payment.Manage order processing and inventories in the distribution centers and shipping/delivery to customers in your territories.Assist management in forecasting sales volume for specific accounts and/or products.Analyze the marketplace to help management determine customer needs, price schedules, promotions.Advise brokers and distributors about the company?s policies and products.Recommend product line simplification and standardization to eliminate unprofitable items and sales agreements.Annual reviews of brokers: ?develop and manage the annual process of assessing broker performance and providing annual adjustments to commissions, work with broker?s staff to assist them in implementing the annual review process and reaching their own goals.Represent company at trade shows and meetings to promote our products.Budget: ?Maintain control over your own expenses to stay within the guidelines of our budget for the sales Department and assist all other managers in managing staffing costs at budgeted levels.Meet with clients on a regular basis and assist other sales representatives in maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals.Assist other departments within the organization to prepare manuals, technical publications, and advertising copy.Manage sample program to control costs and quality.Manage distribution of all sales materials and literature to control costs and effectiveness.?QualificationsKnowledge and Experience RequirementsExcellent results in significant sales/marketing role(s) in a foodservice and ingredient oriented business.Demonstrated ability to handle major accounts and work effectively with all customer structures and personalities.?Creative Negotiator?Expertise with appropriate computer applications.Formal education in a related field desired.Travel requirement of at least 30%.?Principal Leadership CharacteristicsWorks independently, with broadly defined work objectives.Strong work ethic.While being an independent, confident individual who respects others can be effective in coordinating activities with colleagues, as required to accomplish one?s Mission.Honest, forthright and trustworthy–not political.Persistent in getting results, but patient.Driven to succeed and get things done ? competitive.Has a bias for being decisive and taking action when called for, but balances risk and reward rationally.Creative ? willing to challenge existing ways of doing business.The successful candidate will have a history of experience in commercial business-to-business organizations and have a thirst to learn all elements impacting our customers.
