Formulation Scientist III (1901633) ? RTP, NCWhere the Chemistry Happens
Conduct Formulation Development activities for Insecticides. Main focus of the position is the advancement of lab activities for the development, registration and manufacture of new products and formulations for Crop Protection in Research Triangle Park, NC. Key responsibilities will include:
Design and implement detailed, often complex, formulation R&D programs consistent with approved business cases for active ingredients and formulationsExecute formulation R&D projects, both regional and global, to achieve company objectives and communicate project status through technical reports and presentationsDesign, conduct and interpret experiments and studies to advance formulation development while ensuring registerability and manufacturability of the developed productsAnalyze and identify variables and deviations in samples, procedures, and equipment and then recommend changes if necessaryPrepare and evaluate experimental formulations using various formulation equipment and proceduresEvaluate formulations using standard physical, chemical and biological methodsOperate and maintain a variety of formulation equipmentUtilize existing and implement new formulation and application technologies within a development programParticipate in the scale-up and manufacturing launch of the developed productsProvide technical and commercial support after-market launch
Formula for Success
Ph.D in a scientific discipline such as chemistry or biology or M.S. plus 3 years practical industrial experience in an R&D environment or B.S. plus 5 years practical industrial experience. Formulation Development experience, preferably in Crop Protection (related industries are acceptable)Thorough knowledge of formulation technologies (granulation, emulsion, encapsulation, adjuvantation) based on practical use of physical chemistry properties and methodsDemonstrated record of achievement for formulation research and development from discovery to commercialization phasesProven ability to lead, plan, coordinate and complete research projects on difficult problems with cross-functional teamsTrack record of generating new innovation and application of cutting-edge technologySerious safety focus, attention to detail, problem solving and decision-making skillsInterface with R&D and Manufacturing departments through past rolesStrong written and verbal communication and presentation skillsCapability in training and supervising newer members of the team, as and when neededInterest in self-development through continuous learningMechanical aptitude and some knowledge of engineering principlesComputer skills including familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet and database programs (DOE)Skilled in polymer science, physical chemistry or colloidal chemistry is a plusKnow-how in the areas of adjuvants and surfactants is a plusBackground in formulation technology for insecticides, either chemical or biological is a plusExperience in transfer of products from lab to manufacturing scale is a plus For further information on Agricultural Products with BASF, please select:BASF: Create Chemistry with the Agricultural Products Division Create Your Own Chemistry: What We Offer You Adding value to our customers begins with adding value to you.
