Together.Job Description: Formulation Laboratory Manager – ADAMA USReports To: Global Formulation Manager in IsraelLocation: Raleigh-Durham, NCADAMA US is looking for a Formulation Laboratory Manager to lead its formulation R&D team located in Durham, NC.Summary: The US formulation team’s two main responsibilities are to develop new formulations intended for the North American market and to support production of new and existing formulations in Adama’s US production facilities. Background and Key Requirements for the Successful CandidateThe successful candidate must be a formulation chemist with in-depth knowledge and proven experience in the development of ag-chem formulations. Key professional requirements:Above all, the candidate will display proven and personal experience in development of liquid and solid formulations all the way to commercial sales in the US market.Possess intimate knowledge of the registration environment in the US from a formulation R&D perspective, including EPA considerations.Use granular, intimate experience with the latest trends in formulation development including lab techniques for accelerated determination of formulation stability and familiarity with industry trends in materials including those that are becoming less appealing in the US due to regulatory considerations.Management experience in US ag-chem formulation R&D.Experienced in translating product concepts to formulation prototypes advancing from early stages to final products, ultimate registration and sales.Ability to build good relationships with Adama US’s sales, marketing, operations and registration teams.Ability to balance frequent local requests from a few stakeholders with a long-term workplan vision Ability to strongly manage the team of formulation chemists while interfacing with multiple stakeholders.High ability to manage several projects simultaneously, set priorities for the formulation R&D team and possess excellent communication and organizational skills ResponsibilitiesDevelop new formulations that meet the required concept specifications in line with agreed upon timelines while adhering to Adama’s quality thresholds and regulatory goals.Manage and develop a high performing team including training, development, succession planning.Adhere to Adama’s global formulation development process including choice of materials, required analytical chemistry, stability testing and validation protocol, project management process, IP strategy.Enforce all laboratory safety, security and housekeeping policies and procedures.Implement standard procedures and requirements to ensure proper experimental design is followed and research records are maintained.Assist in troubleshooting production batches and where relevant and requested introduce process improvements to improve quality and output.Keep abreast of industry trends in materials and regulations, competitive information, and anticipate changes. QualificationsPh.D. degree in chemistryExperience of at least 10 years in formulation R&D in the US in the ag-chem market, with at least 3 years as a Formulation Lab Manager.Specific experience in a variety of formulation types including stability, materials, analytical and other considerations as mentioned above.Demonstrated ability to attract talent, coach, develop, and retain staff.Strong ability to organize prioritizes, make decisions, and delegate responsibility effectively.Strong leadership and people-facing skills, including proficiency in verbal and written communication.Knowledge of domestic regulations.Ability to travel as required. Several domestic trips annually are to be expected, up to 15%.Understanding of Product Development methodologies and industry-accepted quality standards.Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
