We currently have a position available at our BUSINESS facility in Othello Plant – Othello, WA. Located in Washington's beautiful Columbia Basin, Othello is surrounded by scenic parks and wildlife. SUMMARYSummary:This position is responsible for removing foreign material from the finished product and reacting to sudden quality changes, to ensure finished product quality meets the acceptable quality levels required by customers and the Division. The Frozen Inspector is a member of the quality assurance team, which consists of Lab Technicians, Lab Clerks, Bacteriology Lab Techs, Frozen Inspectors, and Quality Assurance Teamleaders. The individual in this position is accountable to the Shift Manager, QA Supervisor, Packaging Supervisor, QA Teamleader, and Packaging Teamleader.The Othello facility is one of five plants (Moses Lake, WA; Caldwell, ID; Portage la Prairie, Manitoba; and Grand Forks, ND) within the processed potato division of the Food Group Division of the J.R. Simplot Company that produces food service French fries, granulated dehydrated mashed potatoes, shredded and southern style hash browns, and specialty products.The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of the frozen inspection area along with having the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates. It is imperative the Frozen Inspector conducts oneself in a manner that ensures alertness and constant awareness of the safe operation of equipment and its surroundings.The individual in this position will accomplish these tasks by utilizing a team concept through working with team members and following directions and instructions from a teamleader or coordinator.Positive work relationships and written and verbal communications are key ingredients for success of the individual holding this position.Overtime requirements in this position are common and may be required to meet operational goals. RESPONSIBILITIESResponsibilities:Responsibility 1: Ensures the ability to understand all foreign material procedures and identify foreign material. Ensures the ability to properly inspect the frozen product, remove and appropriately dispose of any foreign material or product that does not meet the customer's expectations, and communicate such situations to the appropriate personnel.Responsibility 2: Ensures that the work area is maintained clean and orderly by sweeping and throwing away non-hazardous product as necessary. Ensures the ability to properly sanitize PPE used for inspecting the product and follows the Personal Health, Hygiene and Sanitation Policies and Procedures outlined in the JR Simplot Plant Policies and Procedures. Ensures the Shift Manager, QA Teamleader, Packaging Teamleader, Mechanics and other employees are notified of line conditions. Performs some stripping duties.Responsibility 3: Ensures that attendance and participation in training activities are appropriate for the position and the acquired skills and knowledge are applied. Ensures there is no injury to self or others by following safe work practices, procedures (including Standard Operating Procedures), and policies.Responsibility 4: Ensures self-compliance with Company policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and the Union Labor Agreement.Responsibility 5: Ensures that the interaction with team members and other support groups is conducted in a participative management style conducive with operational goals.Responsibility 6: Conducts oneself in a professional manner by ensuring confidentiality regarding sensitive issues and ensuring that appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the company.Additional Key Activities: Ensures that additional accountabilities, as may be required by management, are handled in a manner necessary to meet Operational and Divisional standards.Disclaimer – The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
