Job DescriptionTransportationGarage Manager (Vehicle Maintenance) – Princeton ?E11DESCRIPTION: ?Directs and coordinates activities concerned with acquisition of automotive equipment and operation and maintenance of fleet repair and storage facilities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.?Manages staff of mechanics, parts room manager, shift supervisors and administrative staff. ?Responsible for personnel issues including by not limited to: hiring, termination, worker safety, performance evaluations, goal reviews, certifications and staffing levels.Directs the activities of personnel repairing vehicle equipment consideration for operational performance, costs of operation and maintenance, operational safety within OSHA compliance, and compliance with environmental laws and regulations.Develops staff by leading, planning (short and long term goals), managing, coaching, mentoring and providing a positive professional image at all times.Provides training or insures that training is regularly provided to all garage personnel.Defines and administers efficient schedules for employee work hours and vehicle service intervals. ?Such schedules should accomplish an even distribution of labor and service requirements and minimize disruption to fleet operations.Controls operating budget.Directs procurement of all types of company owned and operated automotive equipment and materials, supplies, and parts required to maintain automotive equipment, garages, and storage facilities.Coordinates automotive repair and maintenance services to obtain maximum utilization of automotive equipment and prevent operational delays in other departments.Establishes goals and objectives for the garage in support of company strategic plansDefines, evaluates and implements control systems needed to support the efficient operation of the garage and continuous improvement.Insures the accuracy of records.Maintains optimum parts inventory levels.Supports the Transportation Department in the analysis of fleet efficiency through the various measurement indicators.Utilizes efficiently the Garage Management Information system. ?Develops reports to effectively manage and evaluate Garage performance.Ability to create and present training materials and departmental reports as needed to large groups of people.Responsible for being in compliance with all federal, state and local environmental laws and procedures to which Murphy Brown of Missouri subscribesResponsible for understanding all safety requirements of department and ensures a safe work environment and that safety and clean housekeeping practices are followed. ?Plans and directs department safety campaignsMaintains strict compliance to companies MSI Programs.Maintains customer service attitude at all times.Promotes Team Concept among other employees and takes an active part in quality performanceMust be able to effectively operate and use any computer system deemed vital in the business functionReviews and approves payroll summary and timecardsWork with Transportation Manager to establish strategic goals and objectives for the department.Performs other duties as defined by manager.?QUALIFICATIONS: ? A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two years vocational training and/or two years hands on experience in gas and diesel engines or equivalent combination is required. ?Qualified candidates must possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. ?A Class A CDL, AC Certification and Missouri State Inspector License must be obtained within 90 days of employment. ?Selected candidates must maintain Driver Qualification file. ?Two years fleet experience is also helpful. ?Six months to a year of supervisory experience is required for this position.
