Genome Editing Scientist (Trait Deployment Scientist) – #01N7V
We are seeking a motivated Trait Deployment Technologies Scientist. This position will be located in St. Louis, MO (Chesterfield) and will be reporting the Genome Biology Lead. The Trait Deployment Technologies Scientist will play a critical role in developing and testing new trait deployment methodologies to accelerate germplasm improvement. Key Responsibilities: Research and technology development in key areas enabling genome editing and trait deployment in soy, corn or other row crops. Collaborate across teams in Breeding, Biotechnology and Ag Productivity Innovations to test value-added concepts or enabling technologies that leverage knowledge gained thru POC experiments in (1).Help secure the company???s IP and FTO in the subject areas. Experimental design and timely execution that will result in data-driven decisions, generation of new ideas, documentation of experiments, filing of invention disclosures, and communication of conclusions in reports and presentations. Follow all safety guidelines and maintain operational excellence through quality management and good housekeeping. Minimal travel to regional field locations and business meetingsQualifications:Required Skills:PhD (or graduating with PhD in next 6 months) in molecular biology, plant physiology, plant genetics, cellular, reproductive and/or developmental biology and/or related field of study.Effective communication and collaboration skills, being able to connect with stakeholders to initiate new projects and with experts to bring innovative solutions and drive decision making.Results and detail-oriented, having the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and team environment to successfully drive multiple projects from conception to completion.Project management experience. Leadership experience.Proficiency in experimental design and research record keeping.Willingness to continually improve technical skills and expand personal development. Desired Skills:5+ years of experience in either plant genetics, molecular biology, cell biology, reproductive biology and/or developmental biology and/or related field of study with proven creativity.Postdoctoral or industry experience in the above fields.Experience with patent search and writing patent applications.Strong publication record.
