Position Summary:The Global IT PMO portfolio manager is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and facilitating the prioritization of a range of programs, projects, and other work within the portfolio with the goal of allocating resources to the activities that will generate the highest business value.
The portfolio manager collaborates with the Director of the Global IT PMO to optimize IT demand management/Portfolio Management and predictable Project Delivery.Job Responsibilities:Provide leadership and advice in the use of Portfolio Management best practices to solve business problems and issues; drives cultural adoption and change management of new practices. Review project business cases, identifying the business impact, the probability of satisfying business needs, the anticipated business benefits, and the risks and consequences of failureBuild and maintain a comprehensive Master Schedule for the portfolio, based on the current plans of each constituent project or program Monitor overall progress of the portfolio, with particular focus on costs, key milestones, resources, and dependencies Ensure optimum utilization of resources; develop and maintain strategic plans for the staff involved. Monitor staff deployment to ensure individuals are effectively contributing to the organization while developing skills and gaining experienceReport progress of the portfolio to senior management with specific emphasis on business objectives delivery, efficient resource deployment, effective risk and issue management, portfolio volatility with respect to scope and quality changes, and process improvementsContribute extensively to the annual planning and budgetary process for the function.Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization?s policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include assisting with hiring, interviewing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work.Work with key business stakeholders in the portfolio governance process to oversee and prioritize business work requests and resolve stakeholder concernsIdentify and plan systematic corrective action to reduce errors and improve the quality of the projects through root cause examinationIdentify improvement opportunities and recommend strategic steps to capitalize on opportunities that will have a significant effect on profit and/or operational effectiveness for the whole organizationDirect and lead significant improvement programs, taking responsibility for the quality and appropriateness of the work performedEnsure new methods and tools are adopted by end users Take part in professional activities outside the organizationJob Requirements: Bachelor?s degree requiredMaster?s degree preferred but not requiredPMP/PMI certification for Portfolio Managers preferred but not requiredMinimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in project/portfolio resource planning, reporting, prioritization, and budgetingHas proven project management and leadership skills and a good knowledge of business analysis Understands the organization?s policy framework, management structures, and reporting procedures for all aspects of project and program managementHas achieved proficiency in the roles of project manager, senior project manager, and program manager (preferred but not required)Personnel management experienceExhibits strategic management skills at the highest levels and in a wide variety of contextsBuilds and sustains effective relationships at all levels, particularly with business partnersExcellent interpersonal, planning, communication, and presentation skillsAble to understand, explain, and present complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical, audiences at all levels in a persuasive and convincing mannerAble to analyze and explain the risks involved in using, or not using, solutions to business or organizational problemsStrong emotional intelligence with the ability to influence at all levels of the organizationRelocation assistance is available with this position.
