Monsanto is seeking a highly motivated andresult-oriented individual to join the GlobalProduction Technology Team, adivision of the Global Supply Chain organization as a Global Production Technology Intellectual Property Scientist. Thisperson will support our highly innovative teams of engineers, physicists,biologists, biochemists, chemists, and other Supply Chain professionals toaddress intellectual property (IP) needs, assess freedom to operate (FTO)risks, and manage interactions with 3rd parties. Therole will maintain active awareness of each employee???s responsibility for thecreation and protection of IP. This role will offer the opportunity to workdirectly with complex, cutting edge and proprietary technologies, and todevelop the strategies to protect the Global Supply Chain Production Technologyoperations. The Global Production TechnologyIntellectual Property Scientist will also interact with the leadership teamsacross several operational divisions within Monsanto. Key Responsibilities:Conduct IP assessments using patent and public databasesto conduct prior art searches, minimize FTO risks, identify IP opportunities,and perform patentability assessments.Provide training and support for IP processes andstrategy.Lead documentation compliance of our inventions andinnovationsCoordinate interactions among engineers, researchscientists and patent attorneys.Support 3rd partyinteractions by addressing agreement needs, providing relationship management,and ensuring compliance.Post-execution activity; Monitor research interactionsand ensure compliance with terms of agreements, including tracking ofdeliveries, research obligations, milestones, payments, and reportingrequirements.Qualifications:Required Skills/Experience:Bachelor???s degree in Engineering, Science, or relatedfield5+ year???s research experience in an industry settingHigh level of IP awareness, and skills in searching,aggregating, organizing, analyzing, and reporting complex, multi-sourceinformation.Proficient in using patent databases and search enginesto conduct FTO and patentability evaluationsSkilled in the various aspects of 3rd PartyInteractions.Strong written and oral communication skills.Ability to work closely with diverse teams with varyingpriorities to coordinate work flow and drive it to its conclusion.Ability to interface effectively and influentially at alllevels of the organization.Desired Skills/Experience:Well versed knowledge of intellectual property law and IPcompliance practices from a research and legal perspective.Experience in drafting agreements, deal structures,negotiation strategies, and leading internal negotiation teams through theprocess of closing transactions.Good understanding of seed production and manufacturing.Familiar with using electronic laboratory notebooksystems.Project or platform management experience.Registration as a US Patent Agent.Other Information (travel): Up to 10% TravelApply for this job.
