GM Associate, Accounting and Finance

As an Accounting and Finance Associate in the Finance Development Program, you will work with farmers, merchandisers, export documentation, corporate accounting, external audit, internal audit and various finance staff in CHS divisions. You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, analytical skills, problem solving skills, a strong desire to succeed, and the ability to build strong relationships. The 24-month Finance Development Program provides an opportunity for you to grow professionally. You will gain knowledge and experience through on-the-job training in three 8-month rotations in Grain Accounting, Grain Marketing Financial Reporting and Corporate Internal Audit. You will: Grain Accounting: Accounting Specialist functions (5 months)Develop a basic understanding of grain-related contract terms.Application and Settlement of loads to contracts: Generate A/P and A/R, multiple modes of transportation and settlement type.Perform advance payment and invoicing.Perform account management and reconciliation for Vendor/Customer and General Ledger.Perform General Ledger account reconciliation.Customer service: Assist customers with questions. Grain Accounting: Accounting/Risk Analyst functions (3 months)Perform daily long/short position reconciliation.Complete mark-to-market valuations/P&L. Grain Marketing Financial Reporting: (6 months)Perform monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.Review Mark to Market Files.Analyze Traders P&L for accuracy.Prepare financial statements.Set-up demurrage, dispatch and other costs on vessels.Perform inventory reconciliations.Perform bushel balancing reconciliation.Perform hedge journal entries and reconciliations.Perform financing review, journal entries and reconciliations.Perform terminal advances. Country Operations Financial Reporting: (6 months)Process monthly journal entries for accruals at Country Operation locations.Review and analyze the balance sheet, income statement and operating expenses for any variances.Review balance sheet support so that it is in conformity to SOX and Country Operations policies.Provide support for controllers on SAP, Agris and Country Operations policies and procedures.Provide review of financial statements and assist with in house statements and discussions between the general manager and bookkeepers.Compile accurate monthly financial statement for non-controller Country Operations location.Assist controllers with running SAP and BI Reports.Internal Audit: (4 months)Build effective partnerships with business unit leaders and audit team members in a manner that delivers impact, value and influences positive change.Obtain reliable, relevant and sufficient data that is reviewed with professional skepticism. Perform annual SOX testing and report deficiencies to management.Ensure audit work papers are a true reflection of all activities performed during the audit engagement.Develop accurate conclusions based on test work performed.
Document test script activities, findings, recommendations and management action plans, based on root cause analysis and impact to the organization.Select and use a variety of manual and automated tools and techniques to obtain and analyze data for each audit engagement. Discuss audit findings and their impacts professionally and confidentially.Perform follow up testing on open action plans to ensure management action plans have been effectively remediated.Assist in developing risk based audit plan.Travel up to 30%.
