COMPANY: GRAINLAND CooperativeHIRING MANAGER: Jeff Brooks & Jeff KaebLOCATION: Eureka / El Paso, ILGRADE: UN1Position ResponsibilitiesThe grain originator is responsible for building and maintaining key relationships with customers, as well as within the GRAINLAND Cooperative grain marketing and merchandising programs. The location manager s responsibilities involve supervision of employees, safety and maintenance, grain management, and reporting. This person will maintain a positive attitude that promotes teamwork within the cooperative and a favorable image of the cooperative. Grain OriginationUnderstand the basics of the grain business and grain merchandisingDevelop the customer base through phone calls, e-mails, farm visits, meetings, referrals and walk in traffic Work to communicate company grain policy and procedures with our customersCommunicate grain bid changes and closing grain bids to customersPrepare grain purchase contracts and customer settlements efficiently and accuratelyHelp to maintain website, email, and text messages to update patrons and customers with current and relevant information pertaining to GRAINLAND CooperativeHelp organize and host customer marketing outlook meetingsHelp maintain daily position and other grain related records Supervision of EmployeesSupervision involves communicating to other employees at the elevator location the work to be completed, delegating the workload and upholding cooperative policiesOversee the hiring and scheduling of seasonal employeesTrain employees to use all GRAINLAND equipment and programs safely and efficiently Safety and MaintenanceObserve and enforce GRAINLAND Cooperative, OSHA, state and federal safety policies and regulationsMaintain clean and neat facilitiesMaintain equipment and facilities regularlyMaintain housekeeping and sanitation standards Grain ManagementEnsure employees are qualified to sample and grade grain properlyOpen all facilities at scheduled timesCheck truck scales and testing equipment for accuracyWork with appropriate personnel to efficiently ship and receive grainWeigh and probe trucks, when neededProperly bin grain according to grade and moisture to maintain the highest quality possibleCheck and record grain temperatures as neededRecord quality of grain and moisture before and after dryer operationBlend grain for load out to obtain the highest grade and price while minimizing discountsPrepare and load railcars and grain trucks in approved manner of quality and weights ReportingGrain Inventory Report – ExamnetOSHA ReportsEPA ReportsCustomer RecordsOther reports as needed and requested Other DutiesPerforms other duties as assigned Required QualificationsNormally requires a college degree, preferably in Ag Economics, Ag Marketing or Agri-Business or the equivalent thereof, and 3 or more years of experience in agricultural marketing and the ability to provide grain merchandising leadership, project management, negotiation, problem-solving and planning skills Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill developmentMust have and maintain a valid driver s license and clean driving recordMust have the ability to travel independently and overnight when necessaryMust be willing to work extended hours beyond those considered normalMust be able to climb, enter confined spaces, and lift 50 pounds Skills:Apply for this job.
