The Maschhoffs, the lasrgest independent pork producer in the U.S., is seeking a Herd Veterinarian in the Nebraska area.Job Overview:Under general supervision, the Herd Veterinarian will serve as a liaison to the operating divisions throughout The Maschhoffs? PorkBusiness and assist the General Manager with implementation of the annual Health Operations Plan. In this position, the HerdVeterinarian will have the responsibility to maintain active collaboration with The Maschhoff?s internal veterinary team and a team ofconsulting veterinarians to provide production management personnel with fiscally and socially responsible strategies for managingthe health of their animals. In addition, the position should provide leadership in training and developing production personnel,innovation to production practices, and stewardship of the company?s animals and other resources including the image of TheMaschhoffs, LLC.?Job Duties & AccountabilitiesTypical Duties of a Herd Veterinarian include:Assist in the development, implementation and execution of practices and programs that support the business?s animal welfare policyand promote societal acceptanceCollaborate in the development and execution of health strategies and programs that promote food safety and provide a residue freeproduct to TML customersWork collaboratively with the TML internal veterinary team and a team of consulting veterinarians to develop and implement anannual operating plan.Work cohesively with the members of the Animal Care Team to ensure that the service division provides a comprehensive ?best inclass? animal care program.Review, advise, and work collaboratively throughout the business to implement bio-security practices.Responsible for execution of a system that coordinates routine herd health activities including diagnostic monitoring, herd visitschedules, report management, and protocol distribution and updating.Collaborate with Animal Care and production management to develop animal treatment, processing, and vaccination protocols on thebasis of sound scientific Standard Operating Procedures and ?return on investment? analysis.Provide training on health and production protocol to a broad spectrum of production and management personnel.Provide tactical ?in barn? support of health strategy execution.Perform other duties as assigned.?Minimum QualificationsEducationDegree from an accredited veterinary college (DVM).?ExperienceRelated veterinary college classroom, lab, and intern pig management experience and a valid license to practice veterinary medicine indetermined states in which TML has production involvement.?Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of:Veterinary medicine practices, principles and policiesVeterinary laws and compliance regulationsPig production and health managementAnimal welfare?Skill in:Communicating proficiently, both orally and in writing, and possessing the ability to adapt communication style to match the?readiness level? of the audience.Applying scientific principles and business acumen to decision making processesWorking well both independently and in a team environment.
