Human Resources Manager – Agriculture Our client is a well-established global seed company. They are expanding and growing! The company is in transition from acquisition and this role will serve as a key coordinator for aligning policy, processes and systems with its parent company, as the company transitions to a new management structure becoming a 100% subsidiary. The position will also require strong coordination and involvement in projects to ensure consistency. Duties and Responsibilities: Provides assistance in identifying, evaluating, and resolving human relations and work performance problems. Identifies, evaluates and solves human relations and work related problems that adversely affect employee morale and organization production. Coordinates incentive programs to boost morale.
Determines staffing needs. Administers internal and external posting procedures. Recruits, interviews and selects employees to fill vacant positions. Plans and conducts new employee orientation and training programs to foster clear understanding of policies and garner a positive attitude toward company. Manages contract labor. Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions. Maintains a competitive pay plan by conducting periodic surveys; scheduling and conducting job evaluations; preparing budgets; monitoring and scheduling individual pay actions; recommending, planning, and implementing pay structure revisions. Maintains employee benefits programs and informs employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to management; directing the processing of benefit claims; obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids; awarding benefit contracts; designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs. Coordinates administration of benefit program. Maintains records and knowledge of insurance coverage and 401(k) pension plan to assist employees. Coordinates open enrollments. Completes monthly premium calculations. Advises department managers, supervisors and employees of company policy regarding equal employment opportunities, discipline, compensation, employee benefits, etc. Prepares and delivers presentations to corporate officers or government officials regarding human resources policies and practices. Develops and coordinates or conducts training to instruct organization managers, supervisors and workers in legal issues and/or human relations skills such as supervisory skills, conflict resolution skills, interpersonal communication skills, sexual harassment laws and guidelines, and effective group interaction skills. Stays up to date on labor laws impacting the company and relating to human resources. Keeps involved and coaches management in all terminations and prepares employee separation notices and related documentation. Conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations. Represents organization at human resources related hearings and investigations. Participates in resolving labor relations issues to maintain non-union status Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings. Maintains management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures. Maintains historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system Maintain computerized time management system, including entering timesheets and time off requests. Enter all payroll changes such as salary, exemptions, garnishments, direct deposit and insurance coverage for each employee into the HRIS/Payroll system. Oversee maintenance of all employee payroll records both manual and computer.
Assist employees with requests for time off as needed. Conduct administration of employee PTO benefits including tracking of sick/vacation, and holidays. Process payroll changes such as salary, exemptions, garnishments, direct deposit and premium deductions. Process employee new hire and terminations through the payroll/HRIS system.
Process executive payroll on a semi-monthly basis. Keep track of all changes to rent, taxes, etc. and recalculate as necessary and obtain approval for changes through Controller/CEO. Process non-executive payroll for California on a biweekly basis. Review payroll preview reports for accuracy. Maintain accurate and complete records of all payroll processing. Keep up to date on Federal & State wage and hour laws. Process manual checks, advance checks, termination checks for employees through AP after obtaining appropriate management approvals. Create payroll journals, vacation and sick accrual reports, and 401k contribution reports for submission to and approval from the controller. Create and maintain payroll/accounting system GL interface. Develop, implement, and update written occupational safety and health programs in accordance with federal and state agencies (California Labor Law, Cal/OSHA, and External Auditors) and regulations, including but not limited to Occupational Safety and Healt
