Decatur, ILADM Research This is a non-exempt position Position Summary:Under general supervision, this role services and maintains industrial heating and air conditioning systems (including but not limited to industrial chillers) with a heavy emphasis on maintenance reliability.
The successful candidate must be an expert in the performance of functions in the HVAC/R field, such as electrical, refrigerant properties, cutting and brazing copper pipe, as well as performing preventive maintenance, repair and installation of HVAC/R and laboratory equipment as directed.
Possess a thorough knowledge of HVAC systems, in order to diagnose and repair malfunctionsDisassemble and diagnoses mechanical failures and performs repairs on HVAC equipment as requiredProvide assistance on HVAC, pumps and motors, refrigeration, kitchen type equipment, computer room equipment, boilers, heat pumps, chiller systems, humidification systems, dehumidification systems, air filtration systems, air compressors, hydraulic systems, hot water heaters, exhaust fan systems, dust collection systems, make-up systems, generators, steam heat exchanger systems, chemical feeder systems, battery backup systems, R.O. water systems, cooling tower and closed loop systemsInstall new HVAC equipment as required, as well as repair and perform preventative maintenance duties as necessaryMaintain manuals of replacement parts, specifications, blueprints of equipment and maintenance requirements to facilitate repairs, while maintaining such files and records in an orderly manner for future referenceDevelop knowledge of maintenance files, parts and vendors, and accesses information on the department computer as requiredDocuments time spent, work performed and parts used on projects by completing time records through use of the Maintenance Management SystemConduct regular inspections of tools, safety and production equipment Develop and maintain knowledge of hand and power tools used in the repair and maintenance of plant HVAC equipmentGood regular and prompt attendance recordDesign, make and install duct systemsParticipates actively in safety and skills training in pursuit of personal improvement Job Requirements:
Minimum of five (5) years? industrial or commercial HVAC experience and/or two (2) year degree Must successfully complete all ADM Safety Certification requirementsEPA Universal Refrigerant License required Mechanical License is a plusKnowledge of industrial tracer system
Experience in any of the following areas is a plus: Training in electrical and/or instrumentation work (in an industry setting)Direct industrial maintenance experience or high exposure to industrial maintenance Experience with industrial chillersExperience with commercial or industrial HVAC troubleshooting and installation PLC experience and industrial controls experience Experience with CMMSMust be self-motivated with good organizational and communication skills Ability to team build, train, and work on multiple tasks concurrentlyWillingness to assume and learn new responsibilitiesFlexibility in accepting changeProven housekeeping and sanitation skills (MSS)Accurate record keeping and computer skillsBasic maintenance skills, such as troubleshooting problemsAbility to work shift work and overtime when needed, as well as ability to work unusual or extended schedules due to equipment breakdowns or similar circumstancesAble to meet physical requirements of the position including, but not limited to: exposure to chemicals, working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders, working in a variety of conditions (heat, cold, dust, etc.).
