Position Summary:This Ingredient Development Scientist will be part of the Ingredient Technologies Group and responsible for the management and operations of analytical instruments and lab / pilot scale processing equipment as directed, along with related data anlaysis and interpretation. The job duties will include developing and managing additional microscopy and spectroscopy capabilities for ADM?s Corporate Research Group, in support of ingredient technologies including encapsulation and crystallization.
Job Responsibilities: Experimental operations, data collection/analysis, collaborations with internal/external resources, and trainingMicroscopy, spectroscopy, other analytical testing, along with data anlaysis and accurate reporting of resultsIngredient development will include handling and evaluating processes of food powders and other ingredients Development of methods and SOPs, along with sample results database will be part of ongoing projects Job Requirements: Must be a self-directed individual, with good communication skills, able to work with cross functional teams in a fast paced environmentPhD or Masters of Science in Food Science, Chemistry, or related fields required3-5 years laboratory experience in CLSM, AFM, XRD, & Raman applications for encapsulation preferredIntermittent travel will be required as part of the workMust be able to keep an accurate laboratory notebookThe abilities to stand for extended periods, use hand tools, lift and carry 50 lbs., set up and operate equipment in laboratory and pilot scale operations, while maintaining a clean and safe work environment are important aspects of this position Core Competencies: Adaptability, attention to detail, integrity, mechanical aptitude, problem solving, listening ability, independent judgment, teamwork, motivation, positive attitude, dependability, and a commitment to safety Relocation assistance is available with this position.
