Instrument Technician for Performance Materials – Wyandotte The Performance Materials Instrument Technician will be responsible for instrumentation at one or more plants at our Wyandotte, MI facility. Instrument Technicians are responsible for monitoring atmospheric and environmental changes in industrial areas including extruders, reactors, RTO and water monitoring. You will use a variety of instruments and devices to record and report accuracy and calibration of devices while working within a team environment, adhering to all safety regulations and commitment. Our Instrument Technicians are responsible for: Responsible for repair and maintenance of the Instrument and Electrical equipment encompassing the plant switch-gear installations, electrical and pneumatic system, PLC controllers and AC and DC drive controls. Interpret electrical schematics, blue prints and computer logic to trouble shoot production problems and resolve them. Perform process control, sensing and monitoring system calibrations and record keeping. Work with other team members, engineers and production personnel to complete job task, breakdowns or machine redesigns to improve/resolve production needs. Support, maintain and improve the plant MPI programs to maintain equipment reliability. Responsible for requisitioning replacement parts from plant inventory as well as obtaining outside sources to replace, upgrade or implement new equipment designs. Support production operations during the second and third shift as well as weekend coverage. Actively participate in plant safety meetings and procedures for lock-out, line breaking, safe work, and hot work. Insure all contractors adhere to BASF safety standards. Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You? Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED2 years of experience in instrumentation maintenance1 year of experience reading ladder logic drawings and electrical schematics 1 year of MS Office experience Preferred Qualifications: Chemical manufacturing maintenance experienceTroubleshooting, repair and programming of programmable logic controllers (PLC)Completion of an applicable trade school programExperience with troubleshooting and repair of variable frequency drives is desired.Experience with SAP computerized maintenance management system.In addition to the basic requirement of being able to install control wiring, the ability to work on power wiring up to 480V 3-phase is an advantage.In addition to the basic requirement of being able to calibrate and maintain a wide variety of instrumentation, experience with air / water measurement equipment such as turbidity, conductivity, explosive gas detection is an advantage.
