Intern Biotech Agronomist (Boise, ID)
The J.R. Simplot Companys Plant Sciences division provides an exciting opportunity to change the nature of potato breeding and enhance sustainable food production using tools of biotechnology.

We are currently looking for a full-time, seasonal Biotech Compliance Intern to join our Boise, Idaho Team.
This individual will support the companys Innate Technology stewardship and compliance efforts by working closely with internal groups and our national network of licensed commercial producers. What we need:You will assist the Biotech Regulatory Compliance Team in the collection and management of high quality regulatory compliance and stewardship data.
In this role, you will assist with data collection needed to fulfill USDA Biotechnology Quality Management System (BQMS) and EPA requirements for regulated field trials.
You will also assist in implementing systems for Stewardship including Identity Preservation during commercial production of Innate Technology potatoes.
You will be responsible for managing team efforts for compliance documentation related to transport, storage, planting, harvest and post-harvest management of biotech potato crops.
Cross-functional team collaboration, leadership, concise written and oral communication, organization and attention to detail are required.
This role includes an opportunity for independent study and presentation of results. This position is a full-time 6 month internship, starting in May 2019 and ending in November 2019. What you will do:
Assist potato growers and SPS research staff with documentation and monitoring required to fulfill USDA Biotechnology Quality Management System (BQMS) requirements
Assist with planting, harvest, crop sampling and field observations
Data collection and entry
Special projects as assigned
Ensure identity preservation of potato crops and seed
Assure compliance with all post-trial regulatory or stewardship procedures including reporting, volunteer monitoring, and proper disposal of plant material What you already have:
Bachelors degree (in-progress or completed) in: Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, Biology, Molecular Biology, Engineering, Food Science, or other relevant majors
Preference for experience in crop production, farming, horticulture or similar
Knowledge of potato cultivation, food processing, food safety, plant biology, laboratory sciences or biotechnology is also preferred.
Excellent verbal, written communications and interpersonal skills are essential
The individual must be available to travel domestically approximately 50-75%.
