Simplot Phosphates, LLC produces high-quality phosphate fertilizer. At the Vernal mine, phosphate ore is mined, crushed, washed, finely ground and concentrated through flotation. The ore is then thickened to form a dense slurry and shipped 96 miles through a pressurized pipeline to the manufacturing plant south of Rock Springs, Wyoming.

Vernal, UT: Vernal, Utah is an attractive small town with around 8,000 residents. Located along Hwy's 191/40, it is the economic hub in the northeast corner of Utah offering ample retail shopping conveniences. Vernal serves mainly as a base for exploring Dinosaur National Monument, Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, and the Uintah Mountains in Ashley National Forest. Vernal offers many recreational opportunities such as fishing, river running, hiking, biking, and camping in alpine meadows and red-rock canyons.

Assist Engineers and Site Energy Leads in gathering data, performing cost and related financial payback analysis, implementing projects, and performing post implementation audits.
Assist Plant Manager and Engineering Group with various system surveys, non-capital initiatives, and metering.
Assist project management for capital upgrades of existing electrical, thermal and fuel systems. This includes, but is not limited to, high pressure steam systems, heavy mining equipment and electrical system components.
Track energy performance using regression analysis and statistical methods.
Develop time management skills for effective project completion.
Develop written and verbal communication skills.
Enrollment in an Academic Engineering program, from a nationally accredited educational facility/university.
Candidate must be willing to learn process operation, and work in an industrial setting.
Must be at least a Junior or above in a discipline of Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Mine, Metallurgical, or Electrical Engineering and will return to school at the completion of the Internship.
