Intern: Environmental, Health and Safety (Summer 2019)
CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Renewable Fuels Division. We are looking for a 2019 Summer Environmental, Health and Safety Intern who is self-motivated, has the desire to learn, and works well with others to work at our ethanol plant located in Rochelle IL. You must have excellent communication, organization, and management skills. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on Environmental, Health and Safety experience in a dry mill, corn-based processing facility that produces fuel grade ethanol and two forms of distiller?s grains.
You will:Assist the Environmental Health and Safety Lead in development, maintenance, and implementation of environmental compliance programs.Drive and advance CHS Rochelle?s Emergency Response, Standard Operating Procedures, Mechanical Integrity, Process Hazard Analysis and Risk Management Programs.Develop and execute safety engineering projects, as well as health and safety policies.
Monitor CEMS (Continuous Emissions Monitoring system) and other required regulatory processes.
Participate in the identification, documentation, and solutions associated with workplace hazards through monitoring the Near Miss Program and Behavior based safety observations.Work closely with Environmental Health and Safety Lead and Process Engineer to ensure aspects of Process Safety Management requirements are fulfilled.Assist Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator with the compilation of regulation based environmental reporting including, but not limited to Toxic Release Inventory, Green House Gas Report and Air Permit reporting.Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.Basic Qualifications: (required)Currently working towards a degree in environmental, health and safety, or related programProficient with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and OutlookPreferred Qualifications: (desired)Knowledge of environmental, health and safety government regulations as they pertain to the ethanol industryAgriculture experiencePublic speaking experienceData collection experience
